Long lines, quick sellouts and a Nintendo apology.
Nintendo launched the DS Lite revision of the Nintendo DS hardware in Japan yesterday, and it should come as no surprise that just about every unit in the country was sold out in minutes.
Despite only one of the three Lite colors launching, the white DS, people still queued up in lines that were hundreds strong. Some even stayed in line when they knew that there was a good chance they wouldn't get one.

Online importer Lik-Sang has received a single preview unit of the DS Lite (their full launch stock is expected in the next few days), and they have put up an extensive article with new information and comparison photos, at the link above.
Among the observations of the final system:
The lowest brightness setting is as bright as the original DS. The brightest setting may burn your retinas. (Not really...we hope.)

Crossbeam Studios Entertainment is on board the Revolution train with at least two games.
Nintendo's platforms haven't always been the first choice for smaller, independent developers, but this may soon be changing with the Revolution. Most recently, Crossbeam Studios Entertainment updated their About page to include that they're working on three new projects on various platforms, "most notable, Nintendo Revolution." Two games that have info so far, Orb and Thorn, seem to be action/adventure games with dark, moody themes.

The Nintendo exec has some interesting things to say about the Revolution, and the GameCube too.
Perrin Kaplan is Nintendo of America's VP of marketing and corporate affairs. One of the job requirements for her position is to deflect questions sent her way by the media, but the Next Generation crew tried their best to penetrate those Jedi defenses.

Those who pre-ordered Ice Blue and Enamel Navy DS Lite systems will have to wait nine more days.
Nintendo NCL has once again apologized for DS-related distribution problems. Due to manufacturing problems, the company will be unable to ship its Ice Blue and Enamel Navy units to retailers by March 2nd. The white model will still come out on March 2nd, however, which will undoubtedly increase demand for the flagship Crystal White model and complicate current pre-orders for all three colors among retail outlets.

In a recent article in The Orlando Sentinel, the publication notes that n-Space is expanding its territory by 7,000 square feet, no doubt to accomodate their search for new employees, also mentioned in the article.
