Flip Book Animation Software Proves Popular on the DSi DS

Nintendo collaborates with popular Japanese blog site to link with popular DSiWare app.

Nintendo announced via a Famitsu article that they have signed a deal with popular online social network and blogging site Hatena to allow functionality with DSi software.

Users of the 'Ugoku Memo Chou' (Moving Notepad) software on the DSi, will be able to upload their drawings and animations to Hatena servers, where user creations can be viewed and rated online.

Secondhand Games on Wii, DS Retain Most Value Wii

Nintendo-published titles rank second in maintaining their price as used games, and several even sell for more than their MSRP.

According to a recent analysis of the second-hand game market, Nintendo-published titles retain their value longer than those of any other publisher save Bethesda.

ESRB Rates Upcoming Virtual Console and WiiWare Titles Wii

The ratings group has just given ratings for two WiiWare games and two Virtual Console titles from the Super Nintendo library.

A number of new ratings appeared on the ESRB web site today for both WiiWare and the Virtual Console.

Cave Story for WiiWare gets DLC Wii

After a month of silence on the project, developer Nicalis has updated their development blog with information for the upcoming WiiWare title.

The acclaimed independent game Cave Story is in fact still coming to WiiWare later this year. The game may have missed a Christmas release date, but Nicalis has confirmed that "Cave Story for Wii hasn't been killed" and that they are taking the extra time to "make sure everything is perfect."

Nyko Announces Custom Wii Remote, New Accessories

The new product lineup includes the Charging Station EX, Kama Charge Kit, and a competitor to Nintendo's own Wii Remote, the Wand.

Yesterday, Nyko officially debuted their new Wii devices at the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Along with previously announced peripherals such as the Charge Station Quad and the Metal Pedal, The Wand, Charging Station EX, and The Kama Charge Kit were on display for the first time ever.

Ghostbusters Video Game Gets June Release Wii

UPDATE: Atari released a press release today that confirms the Wii and DS version of Ghostbusters: The Video Game for June 16 in North America and June 19 worldwide.

According to MCVUK, Atari has confirmed that Ghostbusters: The Video Game will release on June 19. Meanwhile, the press release for the Ghostbusters 25th anniversary DVD states that Ghostbusters: The Video Game will coincide with the DVD's availability and release "worldwide the week of June 16, 2009." Presumably this news includes the Wii and DS versions of the game, but no specific platforms were named.

High Voltage Betting That 'a Hardcore Market Exists' on Wii Wii

CEO and Lead Designer believe that ports, and publishers who had "written off" the Wii, are to blame for the lackluster performance of "hardcore" games on Nintendo's console.

MTV wasted no time in challenging High Voltage Software CEO Kerry Ganofsky and Lead Designer Rob Nicholls to prove why they should expect good things from their upcoming Wii first-person shooter The Conduit.

"This is a gamer's game, and we make no excuses for it," answered Ganofsky, "With incredible graphics, a captivating story, and completely customizable controls we are providing a complete package of gaming entertainment."

Eduardo the Samurai Toaster Goes from Indie to WiiWare Wii

The game has gone through several PC versions since 2005, but the "huge break" for the small development team was becoming an officially licensed WiiWare developer.

Almost exactly 10 years after its initial release, the popular Nintendo 64 game will become available on the Wii's download service.

Japanese Virtual Console buyers enjoy an advantage over their counterparts elsewhere: official release previews that can reveal titles up to a month in advance. Monster Hunter G Being Ported to Wii Wii

Sharp Fined for DS LCD Screen Price Fixing DS

Sharp denies that it violated Japan's Anti-Monopoly Act while providing screens for Nintendo's handheld.

Sharp Corp. has been fined 261 million yen (approximately US $2.9 million) by Japan's Fair Trade Commission as a result of a price-fixing investigation. The company is alleged to have colluded with fellow manufacturer Hitachi Ltd. to engage in non-competitive pricing when selling LCD screens to Nintendo. NWR initially reported on the investigation when news first broke in early 2008.

ESRB Gives Rating to Guitar Hero: Modern Hits DS

The Entertainment Software Rating Board has leaked the existence, and E 10+ rating, of a new Guitar Hero title for the DS.

Guitar Hero Modern Hits for the Nintendo DS was recently rated E 10+ by the ESRB. Activision-Blizzard has not made an official announcement for a new Guitar Hero bearing the Modern Hits subtitle. However, Activision did file a trademark for the title in October.

We Ski Coasts to a Million Units Sold Wii

Namco Bandai's Ski Game did not debut to large sales, but has been a steady seller throughout 2008.

It used to be that hit games garnered most of their sales in the first couple months, then were summarily forgotten, but Namco Bandai probably won't argue with the steady performance of We Ski. The company recently announced that they've sold 130,000 units of the game in Japan, 330,000 units in Europe, and 560,000 copies in North America.
