Strong sales from Rayman and Shaun White helped Ubisoft increase their bottom line.
Ubisoft has been a strong supporter of the Wii since its launch. Evidently, this support paid off this past fiscal year when robust sales of the company's Wii titles helped to boost full-year profits by 14 percent to 1.06 billion euros ($1.5 billion dollars).

Players will be able to use the Wii Balance Board to train with and race against the renowned Jamaican Bobsled team.
Did you know that there is a Jamaican Bobsled team? Perhaps best popularized by the 1993 Disney movie Cool Runnings, the team is now featured in SouthPeak Games' recently announced Sled Shred for the Wii.

EA Sports is currently "evaluating [their] approach to the Madden NFL franchise on the DS," which will result in the series skipping the system this year.

The Phoenix Wright spin-off starring series mainstay Miles Edgeworth begins its investigations in North America in winter 2009. UPDATE: First English trailer released.
Capcom's recent Captivate 2009 event confirmed that Ace Attorney Investigations, the first spin-off title from Capcom's Phoenix Wright series starring Phoenix's rival Miles Edgeworth, will be released in Japan on May 28 and in North America and Europe in winter 2009. It was first revealed last year.

After nearly a year of silence, first details on the Sims-inspired DS game surfaces.

Famicom Wars also included in May’s Virtual Console updates.
Nintendo’s Game Developer’s Conference revealed that the original Final Fantasy, released on the Japanese Famicom in 1987, would be hitting the Virtual Console service soon. Nintendo recently released details on its Virtual Console lineup for May, and Final Fantasy is confirmed to be included in one of the weekly updates.

Atari and Red Fly Studio recently released a new trailer for the Wii version of Ghostbusters: The Video Game. It looks to be a faithful recreation of the spirit (no pun intended) of the original movie, right down to voice acting provided by the original cast.

Two years and four months after its launch in the Japanese market, Nintendo's Wii system has crested eight million units sold in its home market. This places it millions of units ahead of its competitors, a triumph given the fact that Nintendo was a distant second in the last era of gaming consoles.
