In today's Nintendo Direct, Shigeru Miyamoto announced the Nintendo Today app, a new platform to view complete Nintendo Directs as well as daily postings with updates on upcoming games and other content to be specified. Starting after April 2nd's direct, the app will feature news about the Nintendo Switch 2.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, the newest game in the irreverent Mii-based series, was announced today for launch in 2026. The setting is an island in the sea, and there will be new interactions.

This is the first Tomodachi product since a 2014-localized DS game.

Although it didn't provide a release date, gameplay for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was shown in today's Nintendo Direct.

The gameplay showed Samus doing the traditional Prime scanning of objects on a planet called "Viewros", but also making use of psychic powers to manipulate objects in the environment and blaster fire.

Nintendo has announced a Switch 1-specific Nintendo Direct will air tomorrow at 10 a.m. ET / 7 a.m. PT / 1500 CET. The show will run for about 30 minutes.

No Switch 2 information will be in the show due to the Switch 2-specific Direct airing a week from today.

Nintendo Music has picked up three puzzle games in this week's update.

The NES versions of Tetris and Dr. Mario, as well as the Game Boy version of Tetris, have all been added to the application tonight. A handful of songs both brand new and returning have been announced for the upcoming release Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4. Activision revealed a partial list of the full soundtrack, mentioning that both more returning and new songs are yet to be announced. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 returned almost every song from the original two games while adding a good spread of new, stylistically appropriate songs as well.

During today's Humble Games showcase, Kyoto based developer Chuhai Labs announced their new game Wild Blue. The game is an on-rail's shooter taking heavy influence from the original Super Nintendo Star Fox. Chuhai Labs is run by Giles Goddard, one of several Argonaut employees who were brought to Japan to develop Star Fox. No platforms beyond PC or a release date have been announced so far, but we'll be keeping an eye out.

The team is staying intact, so let's hope for a lot of brakes being thrown.

One of Nintendo and The Pokemon Company's major partners has been acquired.

As was originally rumored last month, Niantic has sold their gaming division to Scopely, publishers of Monopoly Go and owners of Marvel Strike Force. Financial terms were not made public but the rumored acquisition price was US$3.5b.
