Things we missed last week: A localization of the puzzle game Platform 4, but the big movers were in Japan with the release of the latest from Onion Games (Moon) with Stray Children and a seemingly-exclusive Arcade Archives release of Super Dimension Fortress Macross. Take a wild guess why that is.

As this is officially for Boxing Day, there's a few devs I'd personally love to punch in the face.

Although there appears to not be an update to the NSO libraries tonight, there are a couple of items for basic subs.

What will likely be the last Tetris 99 Maximus Cup of 2024 will run this weekend, with the 44th cup offering a Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom theme. The competition will begin at 2 a.m. ET on Friday and run through 1:59 a.m. on December 24.

Of course, this light of a week just means hell to pay down the road. Possibly as soon as Saturday.

Things we missed last week: Antonblast did come out on Switch on Friday, as well as minimalist adventure Naiad and Wholesome Direct veteran Pine: A Story of Loss. The Archives release was Viper Phase 1.

This week's Nintendo Switch Online update didn't just include classic console Tetris as expected.

The update that brought Tetris to the NES library for Switch Online subscribers also included Tetris DX (1998, Game Boy Color) for the Game Boy library. Nintendo's trailer with the DX announcement included a special speech from Tetris creator Alexey Pajitnov:

Things we missed last week: It was good and bad in equal measure as North America went +23, as The Thing Remastered dropped from NightDive and City Bomber from Konami was the Archives release. Unfortunately, that was balanced out by Antonblast's Switch port coming in so hot due to Helene and Milton that we don't know if it's coming out this year, and Funko Fusion actually released so no joy there.

This Kong expansion really should have been all in one shot, y'know?

It's three weeks, four simians for the Nintendo Switch Online Game Boy library.

As has happened the last two weeks with its predecessors, Donkey Kong Land III is now available in the Game Boy library. The 1997 release was the third in a series of bespoke Game Boy adaptations of the Donkey Kong Country series, Land III sees Dixie and Kiddy Kong set out to find the "Lost World" before K. Rool, Donkey Kong, and/or Diddy Kong can.

If you could switch between themes with the DLC single player mode mid-match it'd truly be like 1990 in here.

The NES version of Tetris on NSO wasn't the only Tetris related announcement that rode the wake of Tetris Forever's reveal, and the other announcement will actually drop first.

If this becomes a regular thing, that's cool.

As happened last week Monday has given a couple of news items for basic Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.

Following the reveal in August's Partner Showcase, Nintendo has given a "December 12th" (usually meaning the night of the 11th for North America) date for the NES version of Tetris being added to the NSO library. One of the more popular console ports of the classic puzzler, it was announced alongside last month's Tetris Forever.

Two thousand five hundred games. WOULD SOMEBODY STOP THE DAMN SPAM.

Things we missed last week: In a +19 week for NA, we got a surprise drop of 3DS refugee Ironfall Invasion (review forthcoming from John, here's hoping this one doesn't have to get yanked for an epic security hole), and the rare Fantastic Night Dreams Cotton was the Archives release.
