Publisher press release mentions it, but Telltale Games remains coy.
A single line in one of Publisher JoWooD Productions' press releases could be enough to turn dreams into reality for point-and-click adventure game fans: Sam & Max is coming to the Wii. However, Telltale games declined to confirm the information to Shacknews, telling them, "when we're in a position to confirm that we'll be porting Sam & Max to the Wii, we'll make an announcement about it."

Game's official blog says American gamers can now expect it on March 9th. Japan is pushed back for a week to Jan. 31st.
After we reported last week that Wal-Mart's corporate database was essentially confirming a delay for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the game's blog site has now made the delay official. Brawl's new American release date is March 9, a full month later than its previous date. Director Masahiro Sakurai's explanation is that the game simply needs more time to be completed:

Ozone Electronics believed to have taken payment for up to thousands of orders before closing their website and selling off their premises.
The BBC's consumer rights team Watchdog has detailed a scam exploiting up to 2,500 people among the many thousands who were part of the pre-Christmas scramble for scarce Wii supply in the UK.

The Dojo returns with some pretty big updates, including a new character!
It's the new year, and NWR is back with more weekly updates from the Dojo. Sakurai and company took a week off after the holidays, but their first week back brings a brand new character to the Brawl. Combine that with the possibility of a North American delay and Smash Bros. fanatics are going through bouts of manic depression.

Turns out Super Mario Galaxy sold pretty well in Japan.
This week was very much a catch-up week for Media Create sales figures, seeing the last two weeks coming almost back-to-back. It looks like Nintendo have done incredibly well the first week of the new year, with 25 out of the top 30 games being on Nintendo platforms.

The N64 classic from Rare was being prepped for a Live Arcade release, but the project was halted.
Gaming site 1up.com and sister magazine Electronic Gaming Monthly are reporting that a direct port of GoldenEye 007, the classic N64 first-person shooter, was a mere two months away from being ready for launch on Xbox Live Arcade. As of right now, the game will never see the light of day, as Nintendo and Microsoft can't seem to come to an agreement financially.

The diminutive captain and his troupe of Pikmin have entered the fray. Are even more new Smash Bros. characters on the way?

Nintendo CEO reveals that Nintendo's handheld was intended as "a platform that no one could hate," that he was chosen as CEO for an "outsider's perspective," and more.
At the 2007 Game Developer's Conference, Nintendo Designer Shigeru Miyamoto talked about using his wife to gauge how successful his latest games would be. But in a recent interview with the Japanese newspaper, Asahi Shimbun, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata uses mothers as a barometer, predicting that "if we manage to get even the mothers who hated games to buy in, it marks a bright future for our industry."

This week we hate on the Wii.
2007 was a pretty good year for gaming as a whole. The Wii and PlayStation 3 each came into their own, and the Xbox 360 continued to expand its user base. The PC got some AAA titles, and handheld gaming had another set of big games.
