The patent includes an inflatable saddle.
Silicon Era has unearthed a patent by Nintendo for a horse riding simulator that features an inflatable saddle.
The patent was filed at the European Patent Office in January, and the description states that it's an inflatable cushion with slots for motion-sensing controllers.
Despite the fact that the image shows a child being the one using the product, the patent says that adults can enjoy it too.

Surprisingly, Nintendo's free DSiWare flipbook creator is up on the DSi Shop Channel. Updated: Now with official press release.
Without any official announcement, Flipnote Studio is now available on the DSi Shop Channel in North America.
The free application allows players to make animated flipbooks using their own drawings and share them online. It is already available in Japan and will be available in Europe and Australia on Friday.

Despite a strong showing of games, Nintendo believes it could have been better.
When asked at a first quarter financial results briefing about Nintendo's media presentation at E3 2009, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said that despite the announcement of strong software titles like New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Super Mario Galaxy, and Metroid: The Other M, the presentation could have been better and shown the effectiveness of their products in a more convincing manner.

Ubisoft confirms a November release and unveils two videos that show the poor humans that the Rabbids will terrorize.
Ubisoft announced today that Rabbids Go Home, an adventure title based on the Rabbids from the Rayman Raving Rabbids series, will hit Wii and DS on November 3.

Tecmo's Wii football game launches this September.
Tecmo has announced that their Wii-exclusive sports game Family Fun Football will launch in North America on September 29.
The game promises easy-to-learn playbooks and accessible controls, as well as the ability to play as your Mii, team mascots, or wacky characters such as luchadors, ninjas, and robots. There are several different stadiums in which to play, including the Tecmodome and Moonrock Field.

Both the Wii Remote and the Balance Board have been hacked to benefit the disabled.
Students at the University of Delaware have hacked the Wii Remote and Balance Board so that the disabled can navigate software.
The project is called WiiAssist, and consists of adapting the Wii Remote's infrared sensors so it can be attached to someone's head and control like a mouse in a computer software application. The Balance Board is also modified to control the mouse in a computer.

Tony Hawk, Spider-Man, and James Bond titles are among some of the games Activision has planned for 2010.
Activision CEO Mike Griffith recently confirmed some of the titles Activision has in the works for 2010 through an earnings conference call.
Alongside new Guitar Hero and Call of Duty titles, Activision will also be launching new titles based on the James Bond, Spider-Man, and Tony Hawk properties, as well as titles based on Dreamworks Animation's two films for 2010, How to Train Your Dragon and Shrek Forever After.

One character sees a makeover due to copyright issues.
The Virtual Console release of The Revenge of Shinobi for the Sega Genesis (Megadrive in Europe) has seen an alteration due to copyright issues. The character of Spider-Man (who makes a cameo appearance as a boss) is now pink, so as not to fully resemble the original Marvel Comics character.

European numbers make Wii Sports Resort a million-seller worldwide.
Just as Nintendo confirmed that the MotionPlus title sold 500,000 copies since its American debut , they have now announced that Wii Sports Resort has sold 600,000 copies in Europe.
With sales numbers from all regions combined, the title has sold 1,928,000 copies. worldwide.

Guitar Hero: Van Halen will see release before the end of the year.
Activision has announced the release of Guitar Hero: Van Halen. The third Guitar Hero game based around a band will feature band members Eddie, Alex, and Wolfgang Van Halen alongside front man David Lee Roth.
Like in previous band based Guitar Hero games, other bands will be featured, including Weezer, Queen, and The Foo Fighters.

Activision's latest take on the skateboarding genre will arrive with its motion-sensing skateboard controller on November 17 in North America.
Activision announced today that Tony Hawk: Ride will hit stores on November 17 in North America and November 20 in the United Kingdom and Germany.
The game will be bundled with a motion-sensing skateboard controller. The retail price for the bundle is currently unconfirmed, but reports are saying that it will be $119.99 in North America and £99.99 in the UK.

Users will be able to download additional songs for the rhythm game.
Konami has released pop'n music in Japan with three downloadable song packs. Each song pack contains two songs, and they are available for 100 Wii Points each.
Konami has stated that the downloadable songs for the game will focus on original songs produced by Bemani (Konami's music video game division). The official game website also contains a comprehensive list of all the downloadable songs that will be available.

Nintendo revises the requirements for their education program.
Nintendo has recently modified the requirements for their Japanese DS classroom program.
The program, which was announced in June, allows teachers to interact with students via the DS. The program allows teachers to create lesson plans on a computer and send questions to each student's DSi. Nintendo teamed up with Sharp System Products to create the program.

The strategy role-playing game series returns on the DS.
In the latest Famitsu magazine, Marvelous Entertainment announced Luminous Arc 3: Eyes. Image Epoch is developing the game for release on the DS. Yasunori Mitsuda, who previously worked on titles such as Chrono Trigger and Mario Party, is credited as the soundtrack producer.

Osaka man gets hard time for software piracy.
A judge in Kyoto, Japan has sentenced an Osaka man to 2 years 6 months jail time for selling copied DS games.
38-year-old Yoshiaki Asagiri was found guilty of copyright violations, and also fined ¥2 million with ¥7,135,450 in other penalties. The prosecutors received the financial penalties they requested, but were denied the 4 years 6 months of incarceration they were looking for.

Reel Fishing promises a high degree of realism with players pursuing freshwater and saltwater fish in rivers, lakes, and oceans. SEGA officially confirms that you'll be controlling AiAi with the Wii Balance Board.
SEGA has announced Super Monkey Ball Step & Roll, a new Wii-exclusive entry in the Monkey Ball franchise that makes use of the Wii Balance Board. Developed by SEGA Studios Japan, Step & Roll features all-new single-player challenges and party games alike.
The game was originally unveiled two weeks ago with a teaser site and a trailer.
