Including a public service announcement that also serves to explain why this is being posted three and a half DAYS later than is normal.

Things we missed last week: A localization of a Model Debut sim (the first ever, I believe?) and Taito's Violence Fight was the Archives game.

A reminder to please get your seasonal flu shots and especially the updated COVID vaccines: I had PLANNED to do this next month (specifically on DQ 3 HD-2D... Read more...

...does it have to?

Expansion Pack subscribers who didn't get into the unknown beta will be compensated with another N64 game.

Nintendo has confirmed that Banjo-Tooie will be added to the N64 library on October 25 (most likely night of the 24th in North America). The latest element of the Rare library was originally released on the N64 in 2000.

Nintendo Downloads - October 14, 2024 Switch

by Donald Theriault - 8:00 am EDT

I will only be thankful today if Nintendo announces that forward compatibility for the Switch successor is on a per publisher basis and their denylist is longer than War and Peace.

Things we missed last week: A fixed version of Case of the Golden Idol (called a "Complete Edition") is available after some pretty gnarly glitches Guillaume talked about on RFN, and North America got Moon Shuttle (the one that was just in Europe and Japan the week before) and Power Spikers in the Archives. A New Blood Interactive shooter (Faith) also dropped.

Okay so if we all pool our cash...

As initially spotted by WCnews.com, the full original painting that was to be used as the cover art for the Super Nintendo version of Wing Commander 2 has appeared on an auction site. As of writing the painting is currently mislabeled as the art for Wing Commander 3. The listing itself is still a preview but bidding will begin in November.

Nintendo Announces New Product Called Alarmo, Sound And Motion Based Alarm Clock

by Donald Theriault - 9:37 am EDT

Sherlocking AAA Clock and its 9001 bundles would improve my quality of life.

Nintendo's newest hardware is designed to stop your Pokemon Sleep gameplay.

"Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo" has been revealed today, an alarm clock that uses motion (waving an arm) for the snooze function and stops the alarm when actually getting out of bed. The clock will use Nintendo theming for the alarms, including Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in later updates.

Nintendo Downloads - October 10, 2024 Switch

by Donald Theriault - 8:02 am EDT

We passed 2000 games for the year in North America last week. Honestly, if I did something in RPG Maker it could hardly be worse than the Vroom in the Night Sky progeny.

Things we missed last week: Refined Self: The Personality Test Game (late of April's Indie World) dropped from Playism, while the Arcade Archives game (1981 Nichibutsu shooter Moon Shuttle did not release in North America for reasons unknown.

Originally I was going to do a week without comment,... Read more...

And to think, that's not the weirdest racing game Expansion Pack holders got this year.

Two additional F-Zero games will be taking the green flag next week.

A late night announcement from NoA has confirmed the launch of F-Zero: GP Legend and F-Zero Climax into the Game Boy Advance library for Expansion Pack subscribers officially on October 11. For F-Zero Climax, this is the first international release of the game.

For the true Wild Area experience, be sure to disable enhanced graphics in the app.

If the site's been inconsistent in recent weeks, it's straining to hold up under a game database that has more than 10,000 games on Switch alone.

Things we missed last week: Namco's Blast Off in the Archives, Ubisoft attempted to make up for delaying the new Assassin's Creed by, uh, launching another Monopoly game, and the bastard children of Midjourney and ChatGPT swarmed the eShop to the tune of SEVENTY FOUR GAMES (though I use that term incredibly loosely in most of the cases) released in the week overall in North America.

They claimed it was for the children, but by the time half this stuff launches there'll be an entirely new set of children.

Level-5 held a pre-Tokyo Game Show presentation this morning, tastefully called "For The Children", and announced a new game alongside providing updates for some existing projects.

A new update for April's Megaton Musashi W will be out in November. Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time (originally... Read more...

Fantasian: Neo Dimension Release Date Headlines Other Switch-Relevant Sony State Of Play Announcements Switch

Good idea: Bring two classic Legacy of Kain games to modern consoles. Bad idea: Have Aspyr bring two classic Legacy of Kain games to modern consoles.

The RPG news from Sony's State of Play wasn't just limited to the Lunar games, nor was the Switch-related news.

During the show, a new trailer aired for the release of Fantasian: Neo Dimension. Originally announced in June's Nintendo Direct for a 2024 launch, the State of Play confirmed the launch date for the Hironobu Sakaguchi-helmed RPG would be December 5.

Hoping for about 312% less early 1990s politics references by volume.

The Sega CD wasn't exactly known as a RPG haven, but two of its examples are coming to a Nintendo console for the first time ever in 2025.

We may no longer have to make the choice between "original Zelda Switch game" and "good Zelda Switch game".

Things we missed last week: A new Touhou RPG (Touhou Gensou Wanderer -Foresight-) and Taito's Crime City in the Archives.

I would make a transition from crime here, but this would be the one week anyone else reads the article, so I'll just say that we have an original Legend of Zelda game this... Read more...

Looks like the Chillet skating music will be silenced.

Nintendo is lawyering up against infringment for the second time this year, but this time going after a specific game.

A release on the company's investor site earlier this evening has confirmed that Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have filed a patent infringement suit in Tokyo court against PocketPair, the creators of PalWorld. The specific patents are not identified, but "multiple patent rights" are alleged.

You can get bundles with any pack-in you want, as long as it's Mario Kart.

Nintendo is seemingly the only console maker not raising prices this year and is in fact offering a form of discount.

The company today announced that their traditional holiday bundle will be available again, with a standard Switch, a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe download code, and a 12 month NIntendo Switch Online code for US$299.99 (ie: MSRP). A cute platformer, the most openly gay RPG in platform history and a train game walk into a tire fire...

Things we missed last week: In a blissfully small week for shadowdrops (+6 in NA), Vs. Battle City was the Archives release.

This is another very top heavy week, though not in the "not for good boys or girls" sense. The original big release of the week was The Plucky Squire, the first product of... Read more...
