Nintendo Sued, Settles Seizure Case

Hearings continue on whether Nintendo of America must change its policies on preventing seizures.

Last July St. Martinville Mayor Eric Martin brought Nintendo of America to federal court after his son had a seizure, which he claims was triggered by a Nintendo game. According to the family’s claims, Nintendo’s current labels do not adequately warn consumers of the potential dangers of playing their games.

Sega Developing New Voice Animation System

More realistic mouth movements and facial animations in real time, says Sega.

Sega is currently developing a technology for future use in games that will allow for more realistic mouth movements with character voices. Magical VEngine will focus on constructing these movements by comparing the sounds of vowels and consonants against each other, and then applying the results to more natural facial movements, all in real-time.

Mario Kart: Double Dash Tourney Results GC

Nintendo NCL hosted a MK:DD tournament in February, and its web site has the amazing results.

Last month Nintendo hosted a Mario Kart: Double Dash time trial contest in Japan. Nintendo recently posted the results for the four tracks chosen on its official website.

Nintendo of Europe discovers girls love Game Boy Advance, and decides to do something about it-—at least in Spain.

Nintendo has long claimed girls make up a large percentage of its handheld market. Today, NOE’s Spanish division posted a press release revealing its plans to further tap into the female market. Anthem Pictures (a Sony Pictures unit) and producer Warren Zide have acquired the rights to create a feature film based on Namco's Soul Calibur game franchise. NES GBA Might be Right Around the Corner GBA

It looks like America might get their own retro-styled GBA SP soon.

According to Game Informer Online, Nintendo just might be planning to release a new Game Boy Advance SP system designed to look like the original 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System. The system will probably be released this summer, in a move similar to the Japanese launch of the Famicom styled Game Boy Advance SP. The inner part of this NES GBA SP will be designed to look like the original NES controller.
