Blockbuster to Make Game Transition

DALLAS (AP) - Blockbuster Inc., which already dominates the movie-rental business, is setting its sights on the highly competitive video game market.

Blockbuster is expected to announce Monday that it will increase its offering of games for sale or rent, gaming hardware and accessories such as controllers and cables.

Tom Clancy and Ubi Soft have teamed up to bring stealth espionage to the GameCube.

In the year of 2003, Ubi Soft will release Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell on the Nintendo GameCube. In Splinter Cell players controls Sam Fisher, a member of the National Security Agency who must infiltrate secret organizations without leaving a trace. The game will be unveiled for the Xbox at E3 and release this year for the Xbox. Ubi Soft will release Splinter Cell on other systems, including the GameCube, in 2003.

Electronic Arts has confirmed to several news outlets that Medal of Honor: Frontline will see release on Nintendo GameCube. Unfortunately, no other details have been divulged about the GC version. The PS2 version will hit shelves in June, so the GameCube version will most likely see release before the end of the year.

Today Majesco announced a new licensing deal with Cartoon Network to publish three Game Boy Advance titles based on the network's original series. The games are so far unannounced, but they will combine characters and themes from the Cartoon Cartoons set of shows and will all be released in 2003. Here's the full press release:
