How the games were chosen plus a few other details of Nintendo's indie program.
Nintendo indie head Damon Baker gave some details about the current state of the indie scene on Wii U in an interview with Gamasutra.
Baker outlined the challenges of getting the demos through Nintendo certification when the games won't release for several months, as well as how the games were selected by way of prior relationships and concepts the NOA team found interesting.

If you're going to go for puppets, go for the best.
We have confirmation that the Jim Henson Company was a part of Nintendo's E3.
UK games writer Chris Scullion confirmed that the puppet work for the Nintendo Digital Event was done by the Jim Henson Company, with Brian Henson actually directing the segments.
Some of the puppet extras in the segment also appeared on the UK programme "That Puppet Game Show", which currently airs on the BBC.

Never fear, we've got social features for days.
In order to prevent fully impossible levels from being uploaded, creators in Super Mario Maker have to prove they can beat the level first before uploading it to the network for other players to attempt. This information comes from a recent Treehouse Live demo Nintendo held at E3, where they revealed additional details about the upcoming game's online functionality and sharing features.

Including a re-release of a 3DS Ambassador title.
The Virtual Console on Wii U will be growing the next couple of weeks with games in series that are represented at E3.
Tomorrow will see the GBA's Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones release on Virtual Console. The 3DS ambassador title was spotted on the ESRB website with a Wii U rating earlier today, and Nintendo confirmed the release on a calendar posted to Twitter a short time ago.

It appears that the only cost of entry to the Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival is itself the Amiibo.
According to Youtube personality TheBitBlock, the game will be a free download that just requires the Amiibo to start.
BTW I found out that Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival is a free download game. Amiibo are required to play though. #E3

The Projects are still alive, and one's getting a very special treatment.
Platinum will have a project on the go with Nintendo following Star Fox Zero's release.
Following Eurogamer's E3 demo of Star Fox Zero, a Q&A with Shigeru Miyamoto and Bayonetta 2/Star Fox Zero director Yusuke Hashimoto revealed that Platinum is working to turn 2014 E3 demo Project Guard into a full game. No additional details were mentioned about the game.

Earthbound Beginnings isn't the only rarity hitting a Virtual Console.
Japan's Wii U Virtual Console will get a rare role-playing experience next week as Live a Live will make its way to the service.
The 1994 Super Famicom RPG features a multi-chapter storyline which brings different types of story together into an overarching final chapter, and was noted for its grid-based battle system and auto recovery after each battle.

In non-E3 news, Splatoon continues to stay fresh.
Two new weapons will be coming to Splatoon tonight at the usual time of 10pm ET / 7pm PT.
The Custom E-Liter 3k is a charger with an incredibly long range of fire, backed up by the Squid Beacon as a sub-weapon and the Kraken for a special. The L-3 Nozzlenose is a Splattershot that fires three quick bursts of ink, and comes with Disruptors and the Killer Wail.

Blowing out the 30th anniversary with evil levels and a new Amiibo. UPDATE: Online sharing and some on-disc levels!
A developer spotlight during the Nintendo Digital Event confirmed some new features for Super Mario Maker.
The game will support "compatible Amiibos" with the Mystery Mushroom item that turns Mario into the Amiibo character. During the video, Luigi, Marth, Link, Yoshi and the Wii Fit Trainer were shown.

The clothing website Fifth Sun is selling official Nintendo World Championship 2015 t-shirts.
The shirts come in men's, women's and junior varieties, with sizes ranging from S to XXL. Several designs are available as well, including one badged with "Los Angeles 2015".
A flyer distributed to everyone in attendance at Sunday's Nintendo World Championships states that the shirts are limited editions.

Nintendo is celebrating the 30th anniversary of Mario with a new website devoted to the fans of the Super Mario series.
The website letssupermario.com encourages fans to submit videos showing their love for the franchise, in whatever way they wish. Ad revenue for the videos will be donated by Nintendo to Operation Smile, which seeks to provide aid to children with cleft palates.

Details on Amiibo skins and how the Yarn Yoshi Amiibo came to be.
Yoshi's Woolly World is now slated for release on October 16 in North America.
The game's corresponding Yarn Yoshi Amiibo actually got its origin when a staff member created one on a whim. The Amiibo was so beloved by game staff that they then began to make plans to actually produce the Yarn Yoshi Amiibo for release.

Nintendo has shown off a new title in the Metroid series for 3DS.
Metroid Prime: Federation Force is coming to 3DS. Nintendo announced the 4 player co-op focused title as part of their E3 Digital Event presentation.
In Federation Forces, the player controls a member of a Federation combat team, fighting enemies of peace. Metroid Prime: Blast Ball, which was previously shown during the Nintendo World Championships, will also be included in the game.
