Update: Dengeki Online has provided some more details regarding the press conference of Namco and Nintendo. (The following is translated by our Japanese correspondent, Bakudan Yoshinoya.)

According to the German game site, Gamefront, Biohazard 0 (AKA Resident Evil 0) will be released on August 28, 2002 in Japan and will be a whopping three discs in length. Stay tuned to PGC for further developments regarding this exciting GameCube-exclusive prequel!

GC Inside reports that Konami TYO is currently making a new Winning Eleven game for Gamecube.

Konami TYO (originally KCE Tokyo) officially announced that their transition to next generation platforms ended this past fiscal year (3/2002) and that they are now working to establish title brands. Along with this came the announcement of its first Gamecube title, the latest in the Winning Eleven series. While details are unknown, GC/PS2/PS/GBA are the platforms they are supporting.

THQ snags the rights to make games based on the next 3 Disney/Pixar movies.

THQ has announced they signed a deal with Disney/Pixar to make games based on the their next 3 movies. THQ has acquired the game rights for "Finding Nemo," "The Incredibles," and "Cars."

This deal allows THQ to make games based on these movies until 2008 for the PC, as well as Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft consoles.

Three members of the Tomb Raider team have left Core Design to form Gatehouse Games, and develop Spiralstone, a multiplayer RPG for GameBoy Advance.

Nintendo and HAL Laboratory will be holding the Smash Brothers DX Orchestra Concert on August 27 in Tokyo. The New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra will perform melodies from classic Nintendo games such as Zelda, Metroid, and Mario. Tickets will cost 3000 yen (around $25 US) and go on sale on June 17.

Dengeki talks a bit with two of the higher-ups on the prequel to the original on GameCube.

Developer Puzzlekings will be the first company to use Intrinsic's Alchemy development platform on a GameCube title.

Puzzlekings' ZooCube, a 3D puzzle game due for release on GameCube very soon, will be the first GC title to use Intrinsic Graphics' Alchemy middleware. Puzzlekings is using Alchemy to create the graphics for ZooCube. Alchemy is designed for multiplatform development, but so far ZooCube has only been announced for GameCube among the three next-gen consoles. (A GBA version is also in the works.)

As we reported over the weekend, Star Wars: Clone Wars was demonstrated on GameCube hardware. Here's 2 shots of the actual hardware the game was running on.

Satoru Iwata sits down with Famitsu to answer a few questions concerning E3 plans and Nintendo's software lineup for 2002.

XenGamers has a translation of a recent Famitsu interview with Nintendo Director Satoru Iwata. He describes this year's software as the 'strongest lineup in history' for Nintendo and gives his perspective on recent delays.

What's interesting is that Nintendo seems to opening up a little more than in the past, allowing games to be shown in playable form earlier in the development cycle.

ThX-1138 sent me these pictures from the Star Wars Celebration II in Indiana.

The game was demonstrated with GameCube hardware, and showcased 2 vehicle based missions. The pictures above show Anakin on a speederbike type vehicle. According to ThX-1138 it's a racing type level. The other part shown was a tank based level. So far no space missions have been shown.
