The video game industry in 2007 pulls in 43% more revenue than in 2006. And wait until you see how well the Nintendo DS sold.

Seriously, you're going to be blown away by these Nintendo DS sales figures for the five weeks that made up the December NPD reporting period:

December 2007 U.S. Hardware Sales

Nintendo DS - 2.47 million

Wii - 1.35 million

Xbox 360 - 1.26 million

PlayStation 2 - 1.10 million

PlayStation Portable - 1.06 million

Publisher press release mentions it, but Telltale Games remains coy.

A single line in one of Publisher JoWooD Productions' press releases could be enough to turn dreams into reality for point-and-click adventure game fans: Sam & Max is coming to the Wii. However, Telltale games declined to confirm the information to Shacknews, telling them, "when we're in a position to confirm that we'll be porting Sam & Max to the Wii, we'll make an announcement about it."

Title will be prequel to last holiday's console smash.

UBISOFT ANNOUNCES ASSASSIN'S CREED ALTAÏR'S CHRONICLES™ EXCLUSIVELY FOR NINTENDO DS™

SAN FRANCISCO - January 15, 2008 - Today Ubisoft, one of the world's largest video game publishers, unveiled Assassin's Creed Altaïr's Chronicles™, exclusively for the Nintendo DS™. The Assassin's Creed Altaïr's Chronicles video game will be available at retailers nationwide in February.

Game's official blog says American gamers can now expect it on March 9th. Japan is pushed back for a week to Jan. 31st.

After we reported last week that Wal-Mart's corporate database was essentially confirming a delay for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the game's blog site has now made the delay official. Brawl's new American release date is March 9, a full month later than its previous date. Director Masahiro Sakurai's explanation is that the game simply needs more time to be completed:

The Dojo returns with some pretty big updates, including a new character!

It's the new year, and NWR is back with more weekly updates from the Dojo. Sakurai and company took a week off after the holidays, but their first week back brings a brand new character to the Brawl. Combine that with the possibility of a North American delay and Smash Bros. fanatics are going through bouts of manic depression.

Turns out Super Mario Galaxy sold pretty well in Japan.

This week was very much a catch-up week for Media Create sales figures, seeing the last two weeks coming almost back-to-back. It looks like Nintendo have done incredibly well the first week of the new year, with 25 out of the top 30 games being on Nintendo platforms.

The N64 classic from Rare was being prepped for a Live Arcade release, but the project was halted.

Gaming site 1up.com and sister magazine Electronic Gaming Monthly are reporting that a direct port of GoldenEye 007, the classic N64 first-person shooter, was a mere two months away from being ready for launch on Xbox Live Arcade. As of right now, the game will never see the light of day, as Nintendo and Microsoft can't seem to come to an agreement financially.

Every year, every game publication falls all over itself to announce its picks for Game of the Year. Since it's fun to argue on the Internet, we want you to take issue with the popular choices and post post post about it. That is to ask, do you find most publications' Game of the Year awards to be accurate?

Retailers have begun listing new release dates in early March. No word yet from Nintendo.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl, one of the most highly anticipated games of this or any other year, was already delayed from late 2007 until February 10 for North America. Now, reports are pointing to yet another delay, this time to the second week of March.
