Square Enix once again making their presence felt during a Nintendo Direct.
During the July Partner Showcase, Nintendo announced that one of the best RPGs on Nintendo Switch, Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, would be getting a Switch 2 upgrade later today at a cost of $9.99 (USD). See the image to the right for the 1.1.0 release patch notes. There's a demo on the Switch eShop if you've yet to check it out, or you can check out our review of the game below.

And yes, the Shrek soundtrack is represented.
If it's summer, it must be time to reveal a new Just Dance.
The Partner Showcase revealed Just Dance 2026 Ediiton today, launching on Switch October 14. A new "Party Mode" will be included in the game.
The 40+ included songs in the soundtrack included "Houdini" by Duo Lipa, "Hung Up" by Madonna, and "All-Star" by Smash Mouth.

A witch's mouse goes on a quest for foodstuffs.
Live a mouse-y life in 3D adventure game Hela, coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. Against a realistic forest background, you guide a witch's familiar on a quest to collect ingredients for their mistress to brew, while using your froggy backpack to swing across gaps and pick up items. Playing solo or with up to four players in online co-op, Hela's charm factor was off the charts. Stay tuned for more coverage of the game next year.

Electronic Arts was a frequent contributor to today's Partner Showcase, showing two new games and updating two more.

Two follow-ups to Switch 2 Day 1 game Yakuza Zero are coming on the same day.
An extended trailer for Yakuza Kiwami 2 was shown in the Nintendo Direct, announcing a November 13 launch for the brawler remake. At the end of the trailer, the original Yakuza Kiwami - released on Switch last October - was also announced to be getting a Switch 2 version on the same day.

Switch 2 owners will be asked to accept another hundred hours of RPG this fall.
Persona 3 Reload - the ground up remake of the 2006/7 PlayStation 2 cult classic released on other platforms last year - was announced in the Direct to be coming to Switch 2 on October 23. Preorders open for the game today.

This one appears to be going a bit darker.
A new Monster Hunter story is coming to both Switch 2 and Switch next year.
Today's Partner Showcase opened on Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, a cross-platform RPG due in 2026. The Direct featured a story trailer showing two nations seemingly at war and a single "Rathalos Rider" remaining.

A Partner Showcase Direct will air tomorrow at 9 a.m. ET / 6 a.m. PT. The show will run for 25 minutes.
The show will go ahead despite an 8.7 earthquake off the coast of Japan that triggered tsunami warnings for the entire Pacific Rim.

Sadly, support for the Konami code for costume unlocks will seemingly have to wait for 1.3.0.
A new update for Mario Kart World has fixed some issues with the game in true Nintendo fashion.
The full patch notes are available here and include multiple obscure course fixes and some new identifiers such as signaling when all switches and Peach medallions are found in a section of free roam mode. It will also be possible to select a particular character to spectate in the online modes.

No, you can't load your own tunes from the Music Composition mode into Nintendo Music. (Though that would be awesome.)
It's Super Mario's 40th anniversary, and one of his early creative works is now available for Switch Online subscribers in two ways.
Mario Paint (1992) has been added to the Nintendo Switch Online Super Nintendo game library, as well as the soundtrack being added to Nintendo Music. The game supports the Switch 2's mouse controls, as well as USB mice on the original Switch.

I really should have pulled the "That doesn't work for me, brother" card for this week.
For the first time, the Switch 2 gets games in a week that weren't shown on April 2 - in fact, there's two, though one of them is a bit more questionable. The main one is "Dear me, I was...", the adventure story from Arc System Works (which is an odd enough duck), as for the other... Handy Hockey does come off as a bit of a tech demo.

At this point Donald is no longer asking for an updated "It Prints Money!" meme.
The US was a large part of the Switch 2's record-shattering launch, according to the monthly Circana survey.
According to the survey, the Switch 2 sold 1.6 million systems in June, the most ever in a system's debut month. The previous record holder, Sony's PlayStation 4, sold 1.1m systems in November 2013.

The Famicom's 42nd birthday was the opportunity to drop a load of its games soundtracks onto the Nintendo Music service tonight.
A total of 26 new games were added to the service, the most since the app launched, with four games represented as import titles for North American users. The added games in the North American version that released in the territory are part of the "black box" NES era. The full games are:
