The clock looks to remain undefeated.
At the close of the Japanese business day today, Nintendo released their financial results for the July - September quarter of the fiscal year, and it has resulted in some modifications to their expectations DOWNWARD for the first time in a while.
All figures quoted in yen (¥), for comparison the US$ figures are listed based on a rate of ¥152.224 = $1.

Remember, the official pronunciation is "bu-rut-her-ship".
Things we missed last week: The tastefully named Riot from Tecmo in the Archives.
Despite the best efforts of a company to stand out by coming in at 1-1 conversion between the USD and the yen meaning it's $79.99 US... the big game of the week is of course, Mario and Luigi: Brothership. The new... Read more...

Oh, so that's why all those YT channels got snapped.
Nintendo's month of surprises has continued with a new phone app that apparently aims to revive music for the eShop.
The "Nintendo Music" app is now live in app stores for iOS and Android, and is a free download but requires an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription to use.

Time to get stuck on a whole familiar planet.
The entire Xenoblade series needed 88 months to come to the Switch.
Nintendo has posted a trailer for a long-requested Switch release of 2015 Wii U classic Xenoblade Chronicles X, which will launch on March 20, 2025. Preorders are available now digitally for US$59.99 or equivalent.
The game's file size is listed as 15GB on the eShop page, whereas the Wii U original was 22+GB.

What's more horrible: N64 FPS controls, or the fact that we're coming up on a year and a half since the last Genesis update?
A pair of first person shooters with Iguana heritage have been added to the N64's "mature" app tonight.
Turok 2: The Seeds of Evil (1998) and Shadow Man (1999), both titles developed by Acclaim's Iguana studios (Turok in the US, Shadow Man in the UK), are now available on the 17+ NSO app. This is the third expansion pack update for this month, with the recent additions of F-Zeros GP Legend / Climax and last week's foisting of Banjo-Tooie.

The scariest thing about this list is that it's actually being posted on time this week.
Things we missed last week: Not much, but it was enough to bring new records in North America with 79 releases, and Europe right behind that with 78.
This week is already too busy for my liking, with a NA opening salvo of 52, but let's see how it plays out. The big release de semaine is Farmagia,... Read more...

To avoid the potential of piracy, you'll be given no other option than piracy.
After a hearing earlier this year for a petition three years in the making, the US Copyright Office announced today that they would not grant a new exemption in the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) in support of video game preservation. The exemption which was brought forward by the Software... Read more...

Including a public service announcement that also serves to explain why this is being posted three and a half DAYS later than is normal.
Things we missed last week: A localization of a Model Debut sim (the first ever, I believe?) and Taito's Violence Fight was the Archives game.
A reminder to please get your seasonal flu shots and especially the updated COVID vaccines: I had PLANNED to do this next month (specifically on DQ 3 HD-2D... Read more...

...does it have to?
Expansion Pack subscribers who didn't get into the unknown beta will be compensated with another N64 game.
Nintendo has confirmed that Banjo-Tooie will be added to the N64 library on October 25 (most likely night of the 24th in North America). The latest element of the Rare library was originally released on the N64 in 2000.

I will only be thankful today if Nintendo announces that forward compatibility for the Switch successor is on a per publisher basis and their denylist is longer than War and Peace.
Things we missed last week: A fixed version of Case of the Golden Idol (called a "Complete Edition") is available after some pretty gnarly glitches Guillaume talked about on RFN, and North America got Moon Shuttle (the one that was just in Europe and Japan the week before) and Power Spikers in the Archives. A New Blood Interactive shooter (Faith) also dropped.

Okay so if we all pool our cash...
As initially spotted by WCnews.com, the full original painting that was to be used as the cover art for the Super Nintendo version of Wing Commander 2 has appeared on an auction site. As of writing the painting is currently mislabeled as the art for Wing Commander 3. The listing itself is still a preview but bidding will begin in November.

Just in time for Halloween.
The original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. trilogy is coming to Nintendo Switch later this month on October 31. The collection previously released on Xbox and Playstation platforms earlier this year. The original trilogy includes S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chornobyl (2007), S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky (2008), and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.:... Read more...

Sherlocking AAA Clock and its 9001 bundles would improve my quality of life.
Nintendo's newest hardware is designed to stop your Pokemon Sleep gameplay.
"Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo" has been revealed today, an alarm clock that uses motion (waving an arm) for the snooze function and stops the alarm when actually getting out of bed. The clock will use Nintendo theming for the alarms, including Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in later updates.

We passed 2000 games for the year in North America last week. Honestly, if I did something in RPG Maker it could hardly be worse than the Vroom in the Night Sky progeny.
Things we missed last week: Refined Self: The Personality Test Game (late of April's Indie World) dropped from Playism, while the Arcade Archives game (1981 Nichibutsu shooter Moon Shuttle did not release in North America for reasons unknown.
Originally I was going to do a week without comment,... Read more...

And to think, that's not the weirdest racing game Expansion Pack holders got this year.
Two additional F-Zero games will be taking the green flag next week.
A late night announcement from NoA has confirmed the launch of F-Zero: GP Legend and F-Zero Climax into the Game Boy Advance library for Expansion Pack subscribers officially on October 11. For F-Zero Climax, this is the first international release of the game.

If the site's been inconsistent in recent weeks, it's straining to hold up under a game database that has more than 10,000 games on Switch alone.
Things we missed last week: Namco's Blast Off in the Archives, Ubisoft attempted to make up for delaying the new Assassin's Creed by, uh, launching another Monopoly game, and the bastard children of Midjourney and ChatGPT swarmed the eShop to the tune of SEVENTY FOUR GAMES (though I use that term incredibly loosely in most of the cases) released in the week overall in North America.
