Square Enix has announced a Mario Kart style racer themed around the Final Fantasy series during today's Nintendo Direct. It will release as a Nintendo Switch timed exclusive in 2022.

Nearly five years after its announcement, Bayonetta 3 has finally been revealed in full.
The high-speed character action title is now slated for launch in 2022, and will feature multiple giant summoned monsters and new techniques for Bayonetta. A new character was also shown at the end of the trailer, though details on who the character is are unknown.

Not a new game, but more Mario is always good
Nintendo also announced some key voices for its characters.
Chris Pratt as Mario,
Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach,
Charlie Day as Luigi,
Jack Black as Bowser,
Keegan Michael Key as Toad,
Seth Rogan as Donkey Kong,
Charles Martinet who has played the voice of Mario for years will be involved with some special cameos.

So would Splatsville be the city of order if that last Splatfest went the other way?
We have new details on Splatoon 3, including a setting and single player details.
The multiplayer portions showed the traditional 4v4 Turf War, but with new weapons such as mecha and grappling hooks. Details of the single player mode "Return of the Mammalians" (pronounced mam-aliens) were also shown.

Well, that was certainly out of nowhere.
An expansion pass is coming to Nintendo Switch Online, with a couple of major new platforms.
The "Expansion Pass" will launch in October, with two new platforms: Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis. There will be an increased cost, though members will be able to upgrade. More details will be available closer to the launch.

It's not a remaster, but let's see how it holds up.
The force will be with Switch owners in November.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, the 2003 BioWare-developed RPG set in the legacy Star Wars universe, will be released on Switch November 11.
A remastered version of the game was announced two weeks ago as a PlayStation 5 / PC title, but with no release date.

The pink puffball finds himself in an abandoned world.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land was announced in today’s Nintendo Direct. Kirby’s new adventure is a fully 3D game with familiar powers and a world that appears abandoned and overgrown from a past civilization.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land is scheduled to release Spring 2022.

A big update is coming!
Nintendo announced a new direct is coming for Animal Crossing New Horizons.
The Roost was teased and is coming in a November update.
More details about the update will be shared during the direct. A fifth wave of Animal Crossing Amiibo cards was announced in the Japanese presentation: the Western Animal Crossing social media has acknowledged the cards and indicated more details are forthcoming.

Who's it gonna be?
Smashterpeices has to wait about two weeks to find out their final game.
During the Direct, it was announced that the final "Mr. Sakurai Presents" for Super Smash Bros Ultimate will air on October 5, at 10 a.m. ET / 7 a.m. PT. No hint was given for who the fighter would be.
Nintendo of America later tweeted that the presentation will be 40 minutes long.

A new RPG is heading our way.
A new card styled RPG has been announced during the Nintendo Direct.
The Square Enix published game is coming October 28th. Yoko Taro (Nier: Replicant, Nier: Automata) is serving as the game's creative director.
A demo is out later today.

The major expansion our hunters have wanted.
Monster Hunter Rise's expansion will come with the heat of the sun.
A trailer for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak aired to open today's Nintendo Direct, and it will be out in summer 2022. New locations, stories, and quest ranks will be included in the expansion.
No pricing was provided, but Rise was specified as required to play the game.

The usually tight pre-Direct ship of Nintendo appears to have sprung a leak.
A new listing on Nintendo's Japanese language game schedule has revealed an unannounced Kirby game. Roughly translated to "Discovery of the Stars", the game is slated for a spring 2022 launch in Japan.

Someone at NoA might be singing Eric Idle's FCC Song right about now.
An FCC filing for a new Nintendo controller which was originally to stay under wraps until March is now set to expire this week.
The filing for a new game controller was discovered last week, but the documentation was originally slated to remain confidential until March of next year. Per a recent amendment discovered by Twitter alias Rosti, this filing will now be available on September 24 - this Friday.

Hidetaka "Swery" Suehiro (The Missing, Deadly Premonition)'s White Owls Inc have announced that their crowdfunded adventure game The Good Life will release on October 15. It was originally announced for Switch in the March 2020 Indie World show.

No mics, no folders, but still a major boost.
A new version of Switch system software has added far more than stability.
The version 13 update, available now, has activated support for Bluetooth audio. A list of restrictions for using the headphones can be found on Nintendo's support page, but the major ones are only one headset can be active at a time and using headsets limits the available controllers to two wireless ones (eg: one set of Joy-Cons).

Can the Switch hang onto its US unit lead in a month with so many hard hitters on other platforms?
A lot of hard hitters for PC and other consoles came out in August, but the Switch is still all over the NPD's latest sales survey.
All totals based on US sales estimates from August 1 - 28, ranked by revenue unless otherwise noted. Nintendo does not supply digital sales to the NPD survey, though third parties have the option.
