Japanese Price Drop Announced

Finally, word of the official new price in Japan.

According to Nintendo's Japanese site, the GameCube will be dropping in price there soon as well.

On October 17, the GameCube will be selling for 14,000 Yen (about $120 US). The Enjoyment Plus Pack which includes a Game Boy Player and Memory Card 251 will be reduced a little sooner on October 10th for a price of 19,800 Yen (about $170 US).

Now Japanese gamers and importers looking for fancy colors can save a little dough with the rest of us.

The GameCube price cut carries over, with new retail prices in the UK and the rest of Europe.

Nintendo to reduce the price of the NINTENDO GAMECUBE to a fantastic £79!

Nintendo have today announced that as of 10th October 2003 the NINTENDO GAMECUBE will be going on sale in the UK at the estimated retail price of £79.

David Gosen, Managing Director of Sales and Marketing for Nintendo Europe, comments :

“There has never been a better time to get a GameCube and with this new price we want every household to have one. Our range of games has something for everyone and we know people love to play them. At the same time the industry has honoured these games with awards for innovation and excellent gameplay. If you are new to gaming or have been playing for years, then at this great price you simply can’t afford not to have a GameCube.”

In the run up to Christmas 2003 players will see NINTENDO hit top gear with some of the most anticipated games for the NINTENDO GAMECUBE. The NINTENDO GAMECUBE will boast a library of over 200 games by Christmas, many of which are exclusive. Key games launching this Christmas include, from Nintendo: Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Soulcalibur II, 1080 Avalanche, F-Zero GX and Mario Party 5. From third party publishers: Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike from Lucas Arts, Viewtiful Joe and P.N.03 from Capcom, Billy Hatcher and The Giant Egg from SEGA, FIFA Football 2004, Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup, The Lord of The Rings: The Return of the King and Medal of Honor Rising Sun from EA, WWE Wrestlemania XIX from THQ and Tony Hawk's Underground from Activision.

Retailers in the UK have pledged their support to Nintendo, claiming that the reduction in price will ensure that the NINTENDO GAMECUBE is a huge success this Christmas. "We are delighted with this news from Nintendo. This will provide a real boost to sales, and is supported by some terrific new software titles. In Europe, from 17th October 2003, the NINTENDO GAMECUBE will be available at a recommended retail price of 99 Euros.
