Gloria Estefan was right. Eventually, the rhythm IS going to get you.

Import retailer Lik Sang is reporting today that Satoru Iwata, NCL President, has confirmed the development of Donkey Konga with the help of Namco.

The game will use a drum peripheral, similar to the one Namco used for their last Conga game, Taiko no Tatsujin.

As strange as it sounds, the idea isn't all that far fetched. PGC has long been fans of Sega's sleeper Dreamcast hit "Samba de Amigo", and as it turns out, Shigeru Miyamoto is a huge fan as well.

Rhythm games are becoming a pretty big deal lately, with Konami's "Bemani" series of games doing great business, including their Dance Dance Revolution games. Is a rhythm game featuring Donkey Kong going to find it's market? Time will tell ...

Sweeet... I can't wait for my official Nintendo Bongo Controller!

Hmmm, any chance of a DDR game being released on the cube as well? Because I got kind of addicted to that game over my vacation, and I need a fix...

Hmm, I'd be surprised if this game ever made it to Europe. I'll guess I'll just have to import it. Iw onder if it will have any licensed music?

As long as

1.This isnt the only DK game in development

2.Its released in the US with a Drum controler

3.It has Nintendo remixes, like the Mario song, not just DK Stuff

Ill be verry happy

I say we all NEED to buy this game to let nintendo know how much they have to court Konami to put a DDR on a Nintendo system, even if it is DDR Mario Mix. =)

DDR + nintendo + ocremix = a win, that would be an awsome game, not that i have actually played a DDR game, but i do know the concept behind it and i have seen it been played by people in arcades, looks fun!

oh yeah, donkey konga sounds fun also face-icon-small-happy.gif

If I were any more excited about this title, I would have an acute MI and Dr. Carter would have to shock me at 300.

That is all. This game is going to rock so hard.

Hehe, now if I had a sense of rythm or the ability to convert arrows on a screen fast enough into keypresses, I might actually enjoy this game. But as it is, my only chance is hoping for Donkey Kong Arcade 2...

Namco's 'Taiko no Tatsujin' was an awesome game, so high hopes for a similar experience with Donkey Konga. I wonder if the game mechanics will be similar (normal hit, rapid beating, or big thump; green, yellow, red)...
