At a Namco press conference held today, the company announced some new information on their upcoming GameCube exclusive RPG Tales of Symphonia. First off, the game will be on not one but two discs. Namco is expecting to sell 500,000 copies of the game and is getting a little help from Nintendo to reach their goal. The two companies will be releasing a limited edition Mint Green GameCube adorned with a character from the game on the top of the system. A picture of the unit can be seen on Famitsu's web site.

Update: We have learned that Tales of Symphonia will be released on August 29th in Japan at a retail price of 6,800 Yen ($57 US). The GBA remake of Tales of Phantasia will be released on August 1st for 4,800 Yen ($40 US). Also, the character featured on the limited edition GameCube is Lloyd.

I kind of like the color. (My favorite colors are green and blue.) Too bad I already have 2 Gamecubes.) Maybe if there are a few LAN games I like, I will pick it up.

Maybe this is a good sign that Nintendo is recognizing the segment of their fan base that love RPGs.

That looks horrid. Green is my favourite color, but the mint color GC does not look good.

I want this so bad! I think I might just have to import it. Anyone know if any import sites are taking pre-orders?
