C'mon...say it! THE BEST VERSION IS ON GAMECUBE! We know you agree.

Soul Calibur 2 arrives in Japan next

week, and Nintendo has rolled out a Link-specific commercial!  It's

slightly grainy, but you'll get a good idea how amazing Link looks in Soul

Calibur 2.

WOW!!!!11

After seeing this video, I'm convinced. Now that I have a Freeloader, Soul Caliber 2 is on the horizon. There is no way in hell I am waiting until August to play this game in the States.

GamefreakMarch 19, 2003

Wow. That is some niiiiiiiice music.

RobageejamminMarch 19, 2003

Yeah, the music is awesome! better than the Orchestral game concerts. Hopefully the track is in the game.

Grey NinjaMarch 19, 2003

I have my eye on the PGC Birthday Grand Prize....

Cyberdan3March 19, 2003

You know, people were talking about WindWaker link being in this game (as well as ganondorf), well in the end of this movie, doesn't link look sort of like WW Link. It looks sort of cartoony. I doubt he is actually in, but hey, jut a thought

mouse_clickerMarch 19, 2003

I belive Link's style in SC2 is anime, Cyberdan. So is WW's Link, but a different kind of anime. They both have exaggerated features, though.

Berto2KMarch 19, 2003

Wow!! All I can say is that they better run a comercial similar to that including the loud music to sell copies of this. I think having Link would sell more systems if it was just each version of this game against eachother.

KirbySStarMarch 19, 2003

er... Windows Media player keeps asking trying to download a codec for this movie and failing very badly too.. all I'm getting is audio. Did you use something new codec or something guys? Help.

rpgloverMarch 19, 2003

the only thing i am worried about for sc 2 for gamecube is the control system
does anyone know how it is???
i still think the gc one will be the best mostly because of link
hopefully it will sell good

I'm hearing from 2 people that something is screwy with our new movies. That's all for now. I'm looking into fixing this.

I've been anticipating this one forever and this latest video only makes the stain on my boxing shorts further expand. Looks like we might have to shell out some cash on a more suitable controller though. On another note, I still say that Link should have an alternate outfit not simply a red tunic, and at least give the man his own arena eh? Seriously though, get an American voice in there and bring that exact commercial to the states. Sad to say that would probably be the coolest Gamecube commercial we'd get here in the U.S. of A.

Little Dragon WingsMarch 19, 2003

OH MY LORD. I've never played Soul Caliber. I will now.

That is the most amazing thing I have ever saw. (not counting the lady with 3 breasts).

Wow.. btw video worked for me.

dafunkk12March 19, 2003

Well, I'm still in the process of downloading the video, but maybe people are having codec problems because you guys still haven't learned to not use Windows Media 9 anymore after all the prior incidents. I'm running on Win98, and the damned thing requires that I at least be running Win98SE to install the ver9 codec.

Of course, that's just my guess until I actually have the vid downloaded.

yellowfellowMarch 19, 2003

hey does anyone know if this is the only SC2 commercial being shown? or are there separate commercials for each version in rotation?

Sir KeroMarch 19, 2003

funkk may be right.. I haven't updated WMP since last year, and I get something like one frame a second. I don't even get to see that swanky PGC intro.
Any chance you guys could use WMV 7 or 8, or MPegs, or maybe even DivX?

but dafunkk, you need a better OS.. 98SE is bearable, but 2000 or XP run better on most systems (once you turn off the bloaty gui options in XP that is). 98 original isn't even fathomable for me.

P.S. yeah, it works now that I've installed WMP9. blah

KulockMarch 19, 2003

Hm, I _should_ have the Windows Media 9 codecs correctly installed (I'm not running WMP 9, but I think I got the codecs from Windows Update a while back to fix something), but I'm not getting video, and Media Player can't seem to get the codec itself either.

I downloaded the MPG version from IGN (boo, hiss, I know, it's up for free download), and bloody 'ell, does this kick some SERIOUS arse. I felt the same way about some of the Smash Bros. DX (Melee) commercials, but this one, yeah, just get a similar announcer who can speak English fluently, and bring it over almost exactly. This will sell SCII and Cubes like NOBODY'S business. Granted, Namco will probably have commercials with Heihachi and Spawn just the same way to attract attention to the other two versions (or will they? I heard Nintendo would be going out of their way to promote SCII with an extra commercial, maybe this is it, the announcer DOES sound like the one who did previous Nintendo commercials, including Smash Bros. DX's), but wow... this would definitely draw attention in America...

Thank you Kero! I've been trying to figure out why my system runs so unreasonably slow for a while now, and I think turning off some of the animated windows and junk may have done it!

If possible, Nintendo could hire Frank Laffontane to narrate the commercial. He owns the deep, forboding voice we all hear in 99% of all movie trailers we see in the U.S., not to mention a couple of the Zelda trailers we love. He gets paid $10,000 for every 10minute visit he makes to record about a minute of his voice. Lucky dog.

Did anyone else notice the "downward thrust" attacks?

I would just like to throw another vote in for a format other than WMV. Not everyone here runs Windows XP or even Windows. Personally I dual boot Windows XP and Linux Mandrake, but I would like to phase out the Windows partition once and for all one day. Some consideration should be made for all visitors of this site. I mean, I can see it on an Xbox fansite, as they would push MS products, but we are proud GameCube owners are we not? face-icon-small-wink.gif

NigelMarch 22, 2003

Wow, that was the greatest commercial I ever saw. Nintendo needs to just show that same thing here. Don't even have to change the language or the writing.
