Sequel to critically acclaimed Game Boy Color game is in early development stages.
A few weeks ago, we received several reports that Shantae for GameCube had appeared on Nintendo's website, although no other information was provided. Today Planet GameCube confirmed with the game's developer, WayForward Technologies, that a Shantae title for GameCube is in the very early stages of development. WayForward is currently seeking a publisher for the game. (Capcom published the GBC title, but it is unknown whether they are a possible candidate to publish the console sequel.)
No further information is available, as many of the game's details, such as the release date, will depend on the publishing contract. However, we hope to have the first screenshots for you in the not-too-distant future.
The original Shantae for Game Boy Color, released just a few months ago, received widespread praise from critics. The game was released in limited distribution but has already gained a small cult following.
