Just a few words about our poll that we posted last week, and what you can do to support Planet GameCube!
Hello Planet GameCube Readers!
As you can see, we’ve posted a new advertisement on our site for Pay Pal donations. This is part of our spring fundraising drive. As you know it costs us an arm and a leg to keep Planet GameCube operating at full speed every day of the week. We are trying as hard as we can to get advertising, but even with that, our traffic grows exponentially, as does our bandwidth costs.
We got quite a bit of flack from people last week when we posted a poll asking if readers would pay $5.00 per month for media. We’re not saying we’re not going to try something like that in the future, but we’d like to stay the best free source of Nintendo news and information on the Internet. We like being free.
There’s many things we’d like to do here at Planet but can’t due to cost, and bandwidth issues. Obviously the majority of you out there like the fact that our site is free. Well, hell I’d love if bandwidth and other things were free as well, but to be truthful, they’re not. Remember, our site, E3, Japan, all of it…comes directly out of our pockets.
Want to help keep Planet GameCube free? Donate some money! We’re not asking for a TON of money here, but if you can, please donate. If you don’t want to donate, and would rather order a Japan Video, or when we put our full orders of E3 videos on the net…that helps us too.
I don’t enjoy seeing our site asking for donations, but when push comes to shove, I’d rather ask for donations and see Planet GameCube continue and even improve coverage, than throw the towel in now, and close up shop. I’m sure you agree.
Every little bit counts. On behalf of the Planet GameCube staff, I thank you for your continued support.
Word.
