Attention Kmart shoppers, can you spare a dime?

Kmart, America's number two retail chain store, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Tuesday. This means that while it is in debt, and that it owes many suppliers money, it can continue business as usual while it begins to restructure and repay its debts.

What this means for Nintendo is that it's out $45 million. Apparently, Kmart has failed to pay for most of the GameCube shipments Nintendo has sent to the chain, as well as other games an accessories.

However, this is a minor chink in Nintendo's finacial armor, as it did make $600 million in profit in the last fiscal year. It wouldn't be the end of the world for Nintendo if it didn't get this sum back.

But this is a big deal for Kmart. Don't forget that it had some troubles with Sega in early 2001, as it failed to pay $2.2 million of its $26 million Dreamcast bill, which is the reason why you don't see Sega products in Kmart stores nowadays.
