PSO v2 coming to the PC!

Will it interact with the other two versions? Let's hope so.

Ever since the original DC game PSO came out, people have commented that it would make a perfect PC game. A gameplay style not unlike the uber-popular Diablo II, it appears Sega and Sonic Team have agreed with the general public. Like the GCN version, the game will just be called "Phantasy Star Online," though it is really version 2.

The game looks to be released world-wide, as it will feature 7 languages. This PC port will not only open the game up to those who wouldn't buy the game otherwise but also provide more money for Seganet. The PC game definitely will be based on the DC version, as it is stated as one-player off-line and is currently scheduled for a late winter 2001 release. Since the graphics are identical to the DC version, the requirements are quite hefty (check the link,) so the game will only be open to higher-end users. Sonic Team is aiming for 1 million online users worldwide among the three platforms.

If the various PSOv2 incarnations are able to interact, GCN will be introduced as a staple in PC-console online gaming from the get-go. Unfortnately, various reports suggest otherwise, but nothing is for certain until the PC and GCN games are released.
