PGC invades Japan!

by Billy Berghammer - August 19, 2001, 5:06 am EDT

Yessir, plane has landed, and I've already raided stores and spent all my monies. Kidding. Check my first notes from the land of the rising sun!

Ahhhhhh! It's good to be back in Japan. 12 hour flights suck, unless you get a business class ticket. The food is better, the drinks are better, and you can actually recline your seats and sleep. You think I could actually sleep? Hells no.

I haven't really done a whole lot since I got here. I ran to the bookstore before they closed and nabbed a Famitsu and 64 Dream to get up to speed here in the Motherland. Famitsu has Super Smash Bros. Melee art on the cover (shots comin' later), and 64 Dream has Mario Kart Advance art. Also cool to note was the bookstore was selling pre-orders for GameCube and it's software. Unfortunately the store was closing and I didn't have time to ask what games they were pre-selling.

I ran up to the arcade to try to find Monkey Ball, but no luck. They did have a full size Samba de Amigo Ver. 2000 machine, and their new Tamborine game. Looks like I know what I'm going to do after I get situated here at the hotel.

The game store in the mall almost brought tears to my eyes when I saw Wario Land on sale right next to Sin and Punishment. It was truly a beautiful sight to see.

That's about it for now. I'm gonna go take a little stroll around the convention center tomorrow and see what's up. The rest of the troops arrive tomorrow night, and then we're off to Akihabara to cause troub...er...have some jolly good times.
