Famitsu DC talked with Toshihiro Nagoshi of Amusement vision about their GameCube support.

Thanks to Core Magazine, a translation of Famitsu's interview has been posted. Mr. Nagoshi shares his reasoning behind developing for GameCube as well as AV's future games.

His comments about supporting GCN show that personal feelings towards companies did have an impact on which console Sega teams developed for.

...our decision making process was simple; what hardware provider don't we hate? [laughs..] For that reason, I settled on Nintendo.

Apparently, Amusement Vision will only be supporting the 'Cube. He also discussed his thoughts on the GameCube's target audience:

I think the GameCube will yield surprising results regardless of your target audience. The reality is Nintendo is youth-oriented, but their software and the GameCube platform have enormous growth potential.

Although he only suggests that Monkey Ball could possibly be a launch title, he confesses that AV aims to release Virtua Striker 3 around the time of the World Cup.

Lastly, Toshihiro Nagoshi touches Amusement Vision's later plans. When asked about a new Daytona, he shoots it down by stating that there is no need for it. But perhaps most exciting is his closing statements....

Thinking about the future, it wouldn't do us any good to continue focusing on the same areas. When you think about games that really stand out lately, they're network titles. For that reason, I'm interested in working on a new online console title. Ideally, we'd like to announce our full plans at E3 next year.

Obviously referring to Sonic Team's PSO, Mr. Nagoshi further confirms that GameCube's online activities will be quite important, despite what some Nintendo executives may suggest.

A big thank you goes out to "Little Mac," boxer extraordinare, for pointing this gem out to us!
