U.S. Sales of The Conduit Near 72k in June Wii

First-person shooter outperforms first-month sales of MadWorld and The House of the Dead: Overkill.

The NPD Group recently released their U.S. sales data for June, and Edge reports that sales of The Conduit came in just shy of 72,000 copies during the period of June 23 to July 4. Sega's first-person shooter entered the charts at number 25 overall.

Edge also notes that U.K. sales numbers for the week ending July 11 list The Conduit as the highest new entry for the month to date, entering the charts at number 29 overall.

Final Tony Hawk Ride Board Will Be White Wii

Instead of being the "Darth Vader of skateboards," the final version of the upcoming peripheral will be a "more consumer friendly" white.

In an interview with gamesindustry.biz, Robomodo's Josh Tsui revealed that the Tony Hawk Ride skateboard peripheral that has been shown recently does not feature the final color of the board. Instead of black, the release version of the board will be white.

Wii MotionPlus Totals 374k in June Sales Wii

With over 200,000 sales coming from the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 bundle, MotionPlus seems to be off to a good start in its inaugural month.

Nintendo's Wii MotionPlus has sold 374,000 units between the standalone version (169,000) and the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 bundle (205,000).

Both were released on June 8, and the Tiger Woods MotionPlus bundle was the seventh-best-selling game of the month. Virtua Tennis 2009 and Grand Slam Tennis also came out the same week and took advantage of MotionPlus.

Rock Band Network Unveiled Wii

The new service allows musicians to make their own Rock Band tracks and potentially get them included in the game.

MTV and Harmonix are planning a fall launch for Rock Band Network, an online service that allows musicians and record labels to make their own Rock Band tracks and submit them for possible inclusion in the game. A closed beta test recently began and a public beta test is set to begin in August.

Suda 51: No More Heroes Series is Going Beyond Wii Wii

The company has plans to evolve series into a major franchise.

In a recent article from Edge Online, Grasshopper Manufacture CEO Goichi Suda (a.k.a. Suda 51) said his company plans to evolve No More Heroes into a bigger franchise. For the studio, the only way to accomplish that would be to look past the Wii and into other systems. He expressed that No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle will probably be the last game in the series to be developed on the Wii.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games Release Date Announced Wii

The second game in Sega's Mario and Sonic series will hit stores October 13.

Sega recently confirmed an October 13 release for Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, which is heading to Wii and DS.

Based off of the upcoming Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, the upcoming game will feature numerous winter events including bobsleigh, ice hockey, and figure skating.

Final Fantasy Gaming Marathon for Charity DS

The Speed Gamers will explore the rich fantasy of the series for a noble cause.

The Speed Gamers have announced that they will be hosting a Final Fantasy-themed gaming marathon in order to raise money for autism. The team will play all Final Fantasy games from 1 on the NES to 12 on the Playstation 2, with all funds generated going to ACT Today.

The event will start on Friday July 17 and will continue for the rest of the week, with the top 5 donators receiving Final Fantasy-themed gifts including t-shirts and bags.

Konami recently announced Walk It Out, a rhythm-based fitness game where players walk to the rhythm of the music.

Dragon Quest IX Sells 2.3 Million in the First Two Days in Japan DS

The latest Dragon Quest title is selling at a faster rate when compared to its predecessor.

Media Create reports that 2,318,932 copies of Dragon Quest IX have been sold in Japan for the first two days in the market. When Dragon Quest VIII was released for the PS2 in 2004, it sold 2.23 million copies in the first two days, which shows that the latest Dragon Quest title is already selling at a faster pace.

Hudson is working on Calling, a traditional survival horror game exclusively for Wii.

Hudson recently announced that they are developing Calling, a new traditional horror game for Wii.

In the game, there are no weapons or armor to protect yourself against the enemies that inhabit the game. Players will instead use flashlights, cell phones, and other items to aid them as they visit various locations in an alternate world. Game & Watch Games Coming to DSiWare in Japan

Nintendo's classic portable games will be reborn on Japanese DSiWare.

According to their Japanese website, Nintendo will start releasing classic Game & Watch titles on DSiWare in Japan starting next week.

There will initially be nine games from the Game & Watch series that will be released in the next two months. Each game will be priced at 200 DSi Points ($2).

Nikkei reveals that there is tremendous demand for the next Dragon Quest game.

A recent story in the Japanese business newspaper Nikkei Industrial reports that the amount of pre-orders for the hotly-anticipated Dragon Quest IX has appeared to surpass two million copies. According to retailers, this figure is higher than previous Dragon Quest games. Some are even expecting Dragon Quest IX to sell more than five million copies.

Chinatown Wars Becomes the First Z-Rated DS Game in Japan DS

Rockstar’s drug-addled masterpiece achieves a rare feat.

The Japanese version of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be the first DS title to carry the CERO Z rating for adult content. Even though all GTA titles have been rated Z in Japan, this is only the second title on a Nintendo console to receive the rating. The first was Capcom and Suda 51’s Killer 7, which debuted on the GameCube.
