Phoenix Wright WiiWare Coming Next Week

Your favorite attorney arrives in downloadable form this Monday.

Capcom has announced on its Capcom-Unity blog that Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is coming to WiiWare next week. The downloadable package includes episodes 1-4 of the game. Episode 5 will apparently arrive as downloadable content at some point in the future.

Nintendo Stock Rises On Wii & DS Sales Projections Wii

Nintendo shares soar in Japan after the company's recent report of likely record Wii and DS sales in the US.

Yesterday, Nintendo projected that over 3 million units of its Wii console had been purchased in the U.S. month of December.

The rosy sales forecast spurred great investor interest in Nintendo Co. Ltd., leading to the best single-day jump for the Kyoto-based company's stock since November 2008. Nintendo ended the day on the Osaka Stock Exchange with their stock price jumping up 6.9% to 24,500 yen.

Iwata Discusses the Next Nintendo Portable and Zelda Wii

Nintendo President speaks about the successor to the Nintendo DS, the Wii Vitality Sensor, and the release of the next Legend of Zelda.

CEO and President of Nintendo Satoru Iwata recently let loose the first details about the portable console to follow the Nintendo DS. In a recent interview with Japan's second most circulated paper, the Asahi Shimbun, Iwata stated that the "requirements for the [next Nintendo handheld] will be higher resolution screens and sensors that will be able to read the player's movement."

New Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Character Revealed Wii

Yatterman #2 is joining the roster for Capcom's Wii fighter.

Yatterman #2, also known as Ai-chan, was revealed as the reportedly final character for the Tatsunoko side of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars.

A completely new character, Yatterman #2 is Yatterman's girlfriend and follower, and is "one of the most unique characters in the game" according to Capcom's Seth Killian, who revealed the character on Today

Japanese Hardware and Software Sales Fall in 2009

The games market in the Land of the Rising Sun dropped 6.9% from 2008

While Nintendo continues to top the sales charts in its home market, overall sales for game software and hardware were down 6.9% in Japan during 2009 to ¥542,640 million ($5.9 billion). In fact, the new sales data from Famitsu publisher Enterbrain, covering December 29, 2008 to December 27, 2009, shows that the Japanese video game market shrunk for the second year in a row.

Nintendo Comments on Healthy December Sales Wii

Nintendo hardware and software performed very well during the Holiday season across all regions.

In a recent announcement by Nintendo, president Satoru Iwata presented sales data that showed Nintendo hardware and software performing very well during the month of December. Capcom producer's blog hints at an upcoming announcement concerning the fighting game.

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars is scheduled to be released in North America on January 26, but Capcom may have an early surprise in store for fans of the game. Mario and Zelda Dominate Japanese Year-End Sales Charts Wii

The last full week of 2009 are taken over by the plucky plumber and the hero of time, as well as other Nintendo titles.

According to Japanese Media Crate data, New Super Mario Bros. Wii was the best-selling title for the week of December 21 to the 27th, selling 506,000 copies. The latest Mario title has sold 2.44 million copies since its release in Japan on December 3rd. The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks debuted in the second spot with 291,000 copies sold.

Wii and DS games and accessories dominated Amazon's Top 25 Gaming Products of 2009. The top eight spots on the list went to Nintendo products, and 14 of the top 25 products were Wii or DS related. Namco Bandai Files New Trademarks

The publisher of Klonoa and We Cheer recently filed two new potential game titles for the great continent of Europe.

Dark Spirits Heading to DSiWare in Japan DS

The mobile download service will get a healthy dose of the side-scrolling shooter.

Genterprise is developing a new DSiWare game in their G.G Series called Dark Spirits, a side-scrolling shooter, to be released in Japan this January. The gameplay features the use of four familiars, who each can be powered up individually. The game will release on January 6th in Japan, and like other games in the G.G Series will cost 200 Nintendo DSi Points.

Aonuma Wants Link's Crossbow Training Sequel Wii

The Zelda producer wants to create a sequel to the Wii Zapper title with emphasis on multiplayer.

In an interview with Games Magazine, Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma confessed that he wishes to create a sequel to Link's Crossbow Training, a title included for free with the Wii Zapper. In the interview he expressed his desire to expand what the team created with the first title, explaining that "I thought that we should do something more and better in the field of the first person shooter, based on our experience of the first game."
