Calling All Broadband Nintendo Fanatics!

by Justin Nation - May 14, 2001, 1:03 pm EDT

Are you a Nintendo nut? Do you have a broadband connection or your own server? Do you want PGC's movies first? Step inside if you answered yes to all of the above...

OK, we're back with a call to all of our wonderfully connected broadband users out there. We need your help! The thing is, when people offered to host an FTP for us before we were very concerned people would end up taking one up the tailpipe for us... so we decided that wasn't the way to go. Now, though, we've decided on the PGC Share plan and we need your help to make it happen as smoothly as possible.

The quick and dirty of it is this: We will set up a separate shared network for our broadband helpers. When new files are brought down from the show we'll send out an email to you. You can then go to this network and get access to the media first! Once you have the media then we just need you to go and sit in the normal PGC Share network so everyone can get a hold of the latest movies. Simple enough?

In addition to this we also could use as many people as possible with access to their own server. What we mean by this is that you have actual access to the machine itself and you can install or run software you configure on it. The good thing here is that your server would incur minimal to no bandwidth. You could set your server up with files still if you wanted but what we want is just to set up a few more servers as central meeting points for all of the file sharers to find each other through. PGC Share is negotiated now with the help of our own server and obviously we wouldn't be doing that if it was going to tack on huge bandwidth, it is just there to help people find each other and it would be nice to have a few more servers set up with that.

If you can help with any of the above please contact me at: justin@planetgamecube.com. With the help of as many PGC fans as possible we think this could end up being a great thing for the Nintendo fan community at this, the most crucial time of year.
