Mommy, stop them!

The saga continues. IGN64 has the biz.

At a press event held in Tokyo, Japan today, Square figureheads met members of the media and commented on games, the industry and -- somewhat surprisingly -- Nintendo's next-generation console. Company president Tomoyuki Takechi began his press address by speaking on the system, saying only that he was very excited about the games industry in general, especially after the announcement of Nintendo's Dolphin at last May's Electronics Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles. Takechi seemed purposefully vague when speaking of the console and made no further comments regarding it.

Speculation on the subject has already spread across the Internet like wildfire, suggesting that Square may be more open to Nintendo's console than previously thought. While we would certainly love to believe that the developer has Nintendo in its sights, Takechi's words can be interpreted a number of different ways. It's just as easy to assume that the Square president is happy about continued competition between Sony and Nintendo, for example, as it is believe this is a sign that the developer is leaning towards Dolphin.

Still, the situation for Nintendo junkies looks better than ever.
