Yesterday, IGN64 put up a speech given by Peter Main at Nintendo's recent Gamers' Summit. Main talked about the growth of video games industry and touted the continued success of N64, Gameboy & celebrated phenomenal sales of Perfect Dark & Pokemon. Not surprising, Main gave no indication of what would be seen at Space World, though hyped Pokemon Gold/Silver & promised (threatened?) the Pokemon franchise was far from going the road of Beanie Babies & is still a force to be reckoned with.

Overall, Main's speech re-iterated much of what has been said before (GBA & Dolphin connection) and confirmed a primary focus on GBA over Dolphin, yet compared it to a one-two knock-out punch combo. The way Main described it, GBA is an intregal first part of the Dolphin system. Considering Nintendo's success with handhelds, this is actually a sly (& safe) strategy. Not to mention, with GBA games like Mario Kart Advance being shown at Space World, it's exciting to think an interactive Dolphin counterpart could in the near future.

Somewhat irritating, Main seemed to bash competitors for many things Nintendo is guilty of and/or plans to incorporate into Dolphin/GBA itself (DVD playback, online gaming network, being vague about console specifications). A fine case of the pot calling the kettle black, I'd say. Still, nice of Mr. Main to make sure we're all still gnawing at the bit for Space World. It's worth a read, so check it out!
