C&VG says that they have confirmed that the official name of the Dolphin is Star Cube. Hmf.

Interesting, and scary as well. The boys over at C&VG say they have confirmed that Dolphin will now be called Star Cube. Could it be? Does it upset you or disappoint you. Do you believe it? Read on my friends....

"Sources close to Nintendo's Japanese office have told CVG today that Dolphin will be officially named Star Cube. The announcement will be made at a trade only event to be held on 24 August.

"The news confirms the rumour circulating the Web since Nintendo patented the name Star Cube in December last year. Star Cube is described at the US Patent Office website as 'providing on-line access to educational services and information regarding electronic game programs, electronic game products, and electronically transmitted news and information regarding entertainment topics; providing computer/video game programs that are may be downloadable from a global computer network, from a satellite system, from a digital or analog cable system.' There's more to it than that, you should check it out.

"Not only can we confirm the name today, we can also reveal that Nintendo has scheduled a conference a day before Space World begins. Previously the official dates of Space World were announced as 25-27 August. The announcement for Star Cube will begin at 3:00pm on Thursday 24 August.

"There are still doubts that Nintendo has completed hardware to show, however another source mentioned that, at the very least, there will be game demos and the first look at the Star Cube controller at the event.

"Only a few more weeks left until we can show you. Meanwhile our contact at Rare has told us that the name will tell you what the machine looks like and what it does. It's a cube that will transport you to Nintendo's virtual Star Road, friends! We can't wait."
