The news will come as a great encouragement to Nintendo fans hankering desperately for the machine. Nintendo’s official line is still that Dolphin will release this year, according to a company spokesperson. A large announcement regarding the console is expected from Japan in the near future, although the exact date has not been fixed by Nintendo. “Stories about the actual day this announcement will be made is just rumour,” said a Nintendo spokesperson this morning. “We were told a month ago it would happen in two months. Nintendo tends to do things exactly when it’s ready.”

Very few games have actually been confirmed for the machine at the moment, the only solid news being on a Mario title from Shigeru Miyamoto. We’ll have more as the situation develops.
