And @Wario64 is involved on both ends. (Allegedly.)

The Nindies @ Night even ahead of PAX West 2017 featured another Shovel Knight related announcement.

Yacht Club Games have announced a 3-pack of Shovel Knight series Amiibo featuring the stars of the three expansions: Plague Knight, Specter Knight and King Knight. The new Amiibo will add exclusive armor sets, new challenge stages and fairy companions to the game.

Suda 51 also announced during the show that Shovel Knight will be featured in some fashion in Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes, including sporting a Shovel Knight t-shirt during a livestream.

Not sure the content unlocks have me excited, as they don't compare to the co-op mode you got with the original Shovel Knight Amiibo figure.

Still a pretty cool package for Shovel Knight fans.

I'm happy to see an indie dev get so much extra support, but I'm glad that the perks from the amiibo are limited in this instance. I'm suffering from amiibo burnout and just don't see myself buying many more unless they are my absolute favorites or essential for a key game mode (wolf link/other BOTW figures).

Much like how co-op was a timed exclusive that eventually got released to everyone, I suspect any unlocks here will have other ways to play that content eventually.  But that's just a guess based on a feeling that Yacht Club Games likes to keep customers happy.

Oddly, I wouldn't trust Nintendo to do the same thing.
