Let the countdown commence!

Nintendo has given a date for the details of the Switch.

At an analyst and institutional investor meeting today, Nintendo CEO Tatsumi Kimishima announced that the "Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017" will occur on January 12 (North America time). This will include the system's launch date and confirmation of launch titles as well as other games in development.

The event will be streamed live from Tokyo, with media and fan hands-on to come in the following weeks. Following the stream, there will be two days of live demos for Japanese fans at the Tokyo Big Site.

Well, see you guys January then!

TOPHATANT123October 26, 2016

Nice, looking forward to seeing those games in depth. Obligatory if there is Xenoblade/Monolith Soft game I will weep with joy.

ThePermOctober 26, 2016

At least we don't have to speculate about when we'll hear more.

NinfernoOctober 27, 2016

OK. I mean, if we aren't getting any info in 2016 then Jan 12, 2017 is pretty much as early as we can get, isn't it? Like TOPHATANT has said, throw in Monolithsoft's console RPG (preferably X-2) and I can die happy.

Baring some kind of family emergency, I'm totally going to be at the public event to get some hands-on impressions for Switch! Hopefully they'll have events close to you guys as well!

For the hands on stuff, this is just cool. For the Wii U here in Japan, aside from a few demos of some pretty undesirable games at TGS back in 2012, there was absolutely NO venue that allowed gamers to try out the system. The 3DS on the other hand had a special event that was open to the public about a month before it came out.

Nintendo Australia had events for both the 3DS and Wii U. I hope the Switch gets the same treatment.
I had to drive about 430km to the events each way. Im that dedicated.

Sounds fun, Danny!  I doubt anything would be around me, but it will be fun to hear your thoughts and girlish glee.

KhushrenadaOctober 27, 2016

But will there be puppets? What has happened to the hard-hitting questions these days?

pololmejorOctober 27, 2016

Nintendo World for the Nintendo 3DS was completely awesome and a huge success! Only at the event though... Can't wait for this!

OedoOctober 27, 2016

Whether this is a good idea or not from a business standpoint is an open question, but, personally, I'm cool with this. If they stay quiet on it for the rest of the year, it just makes the wait till March that much easier.

I wonder if my paper will let me do a story on this thing? I would love to go to a hands on event. Maybe for the magazine. I could pitch it for the magazine if I can convince my boss the elderly will be interested. Oh it's a Nintendo console no need to convince him.
