Sega has released a trailer for a follow-up to Sonic Generations, announced for platforms including the Nintendo NX. UPDATED with a statement from the producer.
Friday night during the Sonic 25th Anniversary Party, Sega revealed a new 3D Sonic game, known simply as Project Sonic 2017. The published teaser trailer is an edited cutscene that shows "Classic" and "Modern" Sonic teaming up. It appears that the new game is taking cues from Sonic Generations, a version of which came out for the 3DS in 2011. Notably, the trailer includes NX in the list of platforms at the end of the video, and Nintendo of America retweeted the reveal from the official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter profile.

This announcement adds to the body of evidence suggesting that NX will have capabilities at a minimum on par with PS4 and Xbox One.
UPDATE: During a Q&A with the game's producer Takashi Iizuka streamed after the trailer, he confirmed that the project is not a direct sequel to Sonic Generations.
