After a trip to the 1800s, it looks like a return to "California" is in order.

The next issue of Famitsu has announced a new game in the Ace Attorney series for 2016, and Capcom USA has confirmed it will be localized.

The Famitsu teaser has announced Gyakuten Saiban 6 will be playable at Tokyo Game Show this month, and teases an upcoming six page interview. The game will be handled by the same producer and director who helmed Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Dual Destinies in 2013.

Speaking with Shacknews, Capcom has issued a statement confirming the new title will release in all territories: "Ace Attorney 6 (working title) will be coming to the west. We’ll have more information on the Western release soon."

I kind of wish Phoenix wasn't returning as the main character, as it feels like his shtick has been thoroughly played out at this point. Still, cool that the game is coming West. Unfortunately, it looks like we're right back where we were with Layton vs. Phoenix Wright when it comes to that Sherlock Holmes spinoff Ace Attorney game.

Wonderful news that's it's actually coming to the west, on the other hand it seems like such a massive waste of resources to not localise The Great Ace Attorney, which is now basically confirmed since Capcom have tried to buried it whereas Ace Attorney 6 has been confirmed even on the official twitter account day one. If they cannot justify localising spin off titles why not, you know, not make spin off titles? Surely they could be working on something else other than milking Ace Attorney for all it's worth, or alternatively they could milk Ace Attorney for all it's worth but with entries in the main series instead of spin offs. If the western audience is ONLY receptive to Phoenix Wright and will ONLY buy an Ace Attorney game if Phoenix Wright is on the cover why not make the games with this in mind? If the same amount of effort went into The Great Ace Attorney than any other Ace Attorney game why was it not called Ace Attorney 6 from the get go, you could have just shoehorned Phoenix Wright into the plot without compromising the story one would think. Perhaps this infringes on artistic integrity, but if Shu Takumi truly cared about artistic integrity I think we would see more titles like Ghost Trick and less Ace Attorney spin offs that never even leave japan.

Yay! More pointing of fingers!

But... I guess this doesn't look well for The Great Ace Attorney.

Best game news I've heard in awhile. It's always nice to have localization confirmed Day 1 compared to the wondering with regards to The Great Ace Attorney. (Which I would want to play over AA6 if I had to choose but then I know nothing about AA6 yet.)

My entry into this series was Apollo Justice so I have great affection for that title and characters and do wish that Apollo, Trucy and Ema Skye could become the main characters with Phoenix, Gumshoe and Edgeworth put to secondary status.

I, too, would like them to release localized versions of the spin-offs on the eShop.
