At this point, Humiibo seem like the best option.
Today in Nintendo news, we have a shocking development out of the UK, new hotness in Japan and an update for North America Virtual Console users. Everybody wins!
Truck Containing Stock Of Splatoon Limited Editions Stolen In UK
UK retailer GAME is scrambling after a lorry containing their stock of Splatoon limited editions was stolen somewhere between Nintendo of Europe’s distribution centre and their warehouse.
GAME has apologized to purchasers in a notification and is substituting a standard edition of the game, with an accompanying reduction in price of £10, in addition to using First Class Post to ship online orders.
At this time the only way to obtain the Splatoon Squid Amiibo in the UK, which unlocks challenge maps in the game, is through the limited edition. Although the limited edition is available from other online retailers, it does severely restrict the supply of the Amiibo for UK purchasers who wished to get the game day 1. Nintendo’s online store in the UK was selling the limited edition, but it has gone out of stock since the theft was first reported.
Our Take: “The only thing more screwed up involving England than this situation is FIFA. I hope Nintendo of Europe has a contingency plan in place to get people the Amiibo, and maybe don’t lock that much game content behind future ones?” – Donald Theriault
Japan Getting Pearl White New 3DSLL
Nintendo has announced a new color of the 3DSLL.
A new Pearl White 3DSLL was announced in the commercial for Rhythm Heaven THE BEST, the 3DS version of the popular rhythm franchise. The system is slated to release on June 11 – day and date with Rhythm Heaven – for 18,800yn + tax.
The new color will retain the button coloration of the existing models, but everything else about the system is colored white.
Our Take: “Last week in Japan, the 3DS managed to be the best selling console in the country at 15k, so here’s hoping this gives the system a shot in the arm.” – Donald Theriault
Natsume Preparing To Launch GBA Virtual Console Games
As Mega May winds down, June will see Natsume start to release their GBA library on the Wii U Virtual Console.
In an update on the company’s Tumblr, the monthly update mentions that the first GBA games should release in early June and July. No specific titles were named, but the Medabots series and the Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town duology are potential candidates for re-release.
Our Take: “Fingers crossed that after the GBA gets done, they double back and pick up some SNES stragglers.” – Donald Theriault
