And this new one is a toughie.

As of July 1, the companies formerly known as Tecmo Koei Europe and Tecmo Koei America have undergone a name change to become Koei Tecmo Europe and America respectively.

The announcement first came about in a tweet from TK Europe made on June 24, with little doubt that TK America would soon follow. In a tweet on July 1 it was official. The decision was reached, according to Koei Tecmo America's website, at a special shareholders meeting and then put through by the Board of Directors to be effective for both branches as of July 1. As for their reasons, the KT website states as follows: "By operating under a common name globally, we believe that we can further expand the Koei Tecmo brand to provide our users with the best content we have to offer."

And there's even a new logo to celebrate with!

KT bar the door, it's a pier six brawl!

normally when you change your company's name you try to get a better one.

Seems backwards. Tecmo Koei sounds much better than Koei Tecmo. At least it's better than "Choice Provisions".

How do we pronounce Koei?

Co-ay.

Haven't they had that logo for a while now?
and it's about time they changed the name to match the logo, since it was backwards ever since the merger.... or they started using that logo.

and it's smoother to say in this order anyway.

I have to disagree, it's much easier and smoother to pronounce it Tecmo Koei. It sounds unnatural to say Koei Tecmo.

Could it be because you're used to Tecmo Koei?

No kidding? In that case, it's the first time I've ever said it correctly. With both names being fresh, I like Koei Tecmo better.

The statement from the KT website is confusing since they seemed to have a universal name beforehand, or do they have a Japanese branch that has always been called Koei Tecmo? I wonder why Koei was given top billing.

MythtendoJuly 09, 2014

Adrock, it just sounds better as TK. If Capcom and Konami merged, Konami Capcom would sound better than Capcom Konami.

Eiksirf, the Japanese branch was always Koei Tecmo because technically Koei purchased Tecmo (like when AOL technically bought Time Warner since mergers are rarely 50-50).

I'm with Mythtendo on this one.

Well, some people just enjoy being wrong. Didn't think you would be one of them.

KhushrenadaJuly 09, 2014

You prefer Capcom Konami over Konami Capcom?

BlackNMild2k1July 09, 2014

I was gonna go for CapKami.

I thought Capcom and Konami merged YEARS ago.

BlackNMild2k1July 09, 2014

Only when it comes to making games like Castlevania.
