And you thought your GamePad was already greasy.

Toys featuring the characters from Mario Kart 8 for Wii U are headed to McDonald’s Happy Meals for the month of July.

The toys feature Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Toad, Peach, Donkey Kong and Yoshi, as well as a Mario themed visor. These toys will be a part of a gender-split happy meal, being the boy focused version.

Along with the Mario Kart 8 toys, McDonald’s will have Ty Teenie Beanie Boo’s serving as the girl happy meal toy.

I demand this article be updated to reflect that McDonald's no longer offers "boys" and "girls" Happy Meal toys.

Man, for a website with "report" in the title, you guys seem to get a lot of stuff wrong. ;)

That article just says that some little girl was whining and complaining about their being boys toys and girls toys. McDonalds still offers seperate happy meal toy sets

They still offer multiple sets, but they're not supposed to call them "boy" or "girl" toys.

Nah, that's just some BS blog. Any forbes.com/sites/ URI isn't coming from a journalist hired by Forbes. Not sure what that was supposed to show, anyway. Personally I'm fine with "boys" or "girls" toys since it's the simplest way to get the idea across, but if they wanted to identify them by brand, say Batman or Barbie, then whatever, but don't cry about getting Catwoman or Ken instead. Fairly odd for the pre-teen set to give a shit about such a thing.

MK should totally be neutral though, not considered just for boys. Got pwned last night by someone that appeared to be a lady-girl-female person track after track. Which clearly proves that. Also I know my kids are gonna demand to go there if they find out about this. So shut up!

I haven't been to a mcdonalds in the last couple months that HASNT asked if it's for a girl or boy.  Most mcdonalds must be doing it wrong by your definition, then.

Officially in there system Boy is referred to as Truck Toy from what I can tell.  I think Girl is Doll.

I'm just saying - the official company line is that McDonald's does *not* offer "girl" toys or "boy" toys.  They offer "Mario" or "Beanie Babies" - both of which can be enjoyed by anyone of any gender.

Individual employees or franchises may call them by the older designations, but, as I said before, they're doing it wrong. - and likely, most of them are.  However, there are several sources for this on the Interwebz, if you'd like to research further - or you can call McDonald's corporate help desk, if you still think I'm wrong.

Mario Kart 8 should be unisex enough that it doesn't need to co-exist with another line.  I remember the old SMB3 toys from when I was a kid and that was the only set of toys and no one really thought of them as being strictly for boys, unless you made the assumption that only boys played videogames.  I know when I was a little boy I probably would be pissed if I got stuck with the Peach figure. :)  Her inclusion pretty clearly sets it as not just for boys.

The sort of people that get pissed off by Happy Meal toys promoting "gender stereotypes" are probably not the sort of people that ever even go to McDonalds in the first place because they also have a problem with fast food in general.  And the irony is that having boys and girls toys in the first place is McDonalds trying to be inclusive because when I was a kid the Barbie/Hot Wheels happy meal was the only one I recall that made any distinction.  How many people in the entire world that would find a boy/girl distinction offensive are actual McDonalds customers that would stop being a customer because of it?  Is it even 10?  Remember I'm talking real customers, not just whiners with an axe to grind.  Happy Meal toys aren't a human right.  If you don't like the toys, don't buy your kids a Happy Meal.  Don't like the food, don't eat there.  What sort of obnoxious asshole even gives a fuck what other people eat or what toys they play with?

Besides, when you buy a Happy Meal you can just ask for whatever specific toy you want and if they have it in stock they'll give it to you.  I see it all the time at my local McDonald's.  No one is prevented from having the toy they want because of their gender.  When I was a kid they rotated the toys by week and you had no say in what you got.  It's way better now.
