Phoenix Wright Creator Had Doubts About Continuing Series

The corporate side of Capcom decided otherwise however.

Phoenix Wright creator Shu Takumi admits that the series may not have continued after the third game. This is what he says in an interview with Official Nintendo Magazine UK in their latest issue.

Takumi says the following on the matter: "I felt that Phoenix's story had been told, and that the series should not continue. Knowing when to end a story is very important and I wanted to avoid dragging it out and having it become a shadow of its former self."

This wasn't the last we saw of him though, as he made an appearance in Apollo Justice. Concerning Phoenix's inclusion in that game, the creator had the following on his mind: "Years later, when it was decided within Capcom that Ace Attorney 4 would go ahead, my position was that we should change the main character and tell a new story. I didn't plan to have Phoenix in the game, but my colleagues said they wanted him to appear in some form, which is why he ended up being the accused in the first case in Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney."

Phoenix Wright came back as a main charactor for the fifth game in the series, which Shu Takumi did not write. He was occupied with Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, which will be on store shelves in Europe on the 28th of March. The game will also hit North America later in 2014. He will, however, be writing for the new entry in the series, and we will be hearing more about that at an undisclosed date.

The funny thing is that Phoenix Wright is the best game currently on the 3DS. Thanks Daan.
