The Punch-Out!! hero joins the tussle.

Little Mac will be playable in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS, as revealed in today's Nintendo Direct.

He has a lot of punching-based attacks, including a powerful charging move that resembles a knock-out punch. His Final Smash appears to transform him into Giga Mac. The character is based on the 2009 Wii release.

Super Smash Bros. on Wii U and 3DS was given a reconfirmed 2014 release window.

So Little Mac has a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde transformation!?

I've never heard of "Giga" Mac

KhushrenadaFebruary 13, 2014

His final smash shoulda been a Landmaster Tank.

Kytim89February 13, 2014

Could be a hint of a new Punch-Out! game.

AdrockFebruary 13, 2014

Probably isn't.

I believe Giga Mac was a feature unique to the multiplayer mode in Punch Out!! (Wii).

Yeah, I moreso see this as the last low-hanging fruit from Nintendo's tree of semi-dormant franchises. Can't think of anyone else of Little Mac's stature who has also had a game made in the last 5-10 years.

Giga Mac? He should turn into a Big Mac.

Ha!

Little Mac looks like a pretty unique character. Only punches, KO Meter, and it looks like he can bypass a lot of attacks. He's probably fairly difficult to master.

Also, I just noticed that Mega Man has a unique KO. Instead of just the standard Super Smash Bros energy flash, he gets the exploding bubbles and his death chime. That's pretty cool. They should do that with every character.

Yeah, they showed it in Megaman's reveal trailer, but it wasn't clear if that was just for the trailer or not.  I'm glad they showed it here.

Little Mac seemed like an obvious addition after he was an assist trophy.  Also cool how the trailer emphasized that he wasn't good in the air, showing that there's some give and take.

Where is Racht! Someone get Racht! We finally did it man! We finally did it! You can die peacefully now! My battle is not over just yet. I've got to wait until Dixie and Ridley come home. Then and only then can I enjoy true peace.

I love characters that don't use gadgets and crap to fight. That's why DK and Bowser are mains since forever! Id Dixie doesn't make it or is too complicated for me is she's partnered with Diddy, this guy is going to be my 3rd main for sure!

Expected/10. Also indifferent.

I was wanting Little Mac as a playable character. I sort of spazzed out when I saw him in that animated video.

As a big Punch Out!! fan this announcement made me very happy. Samus measuring Little Mac was also kind of hysterical.

I'm also very happy for Next Level, whose great work in reviving Punch Out!! will now be showcased in one of Nintendo's most important and exclusive franchises.

I am bad at fighting games and even worse at Smash Bros but i loved to play as Dudley in Street Fighter IV. There is something really satisfying to just smack everyone around using just your bare fists.

Also Punch-Out series is amazing and anyone who hasn't played excellent Wii version is a fool and enemy of himself.

...and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free

I believe there was a leak that confirmed Megaman, Mac and one other character for Smash.

Sakurai slightly tweaked the Mac's appearance. He looks a bit more cartoony.

Wii game was one of the instance were 3d cg models were much better than hand drawn animated scenes (especially that weird random fluorescent six pack ;_;) and it's kinda bad that this incarnation is closer to hand drawn look and but it's nothing major.

Bwuhahaha! Step one is complete! Little Mac was first. Now if Sakurockaguchi can get us Ridley second...and then Mike Jones third. I can die a happy Smash Bros. fan.

DO IT, SAKURAI. DO IT.

Yeah, ahead of last E3 there was a minimalist leak of six names: Megaman, Wii Fit Trainer, Animal Crossing Dude, Little Mac, Mii, and Pac Man.

So far it's four for six. I think Mii's are pretty much a given, especially after that 3DS spotpass stage showed up. Pac Man would be kind of lame, but the leak list is pretty bulletproof at this point, especially given how left-field Animal Crossing and Wii Fit were as inclusions.

Rewatching Direct footage.

Doc Louis constantly saying "one-two, one-two, jab!" reminds me of Figure Fighter:

In before someone tells you that you are using the Internet, that makes finding information very easy...

Little Mac is the main character of the Punch-Out!! series.

MythtendoFebruary 20, 2014

Not surprising, but very nice. He looked pretty cool in the video
