If you didn't bite before, you may find it a little more tasty.

Pandora's Tower has received a price drop to $30 from publisher XSEED Games.

Amazon has also reduced the price for this late Wii game by the same $10.

Pandora's Tower was the third game to be released in the Operation Rainfall campaign, where gamers petitioned for this and two other JRPG's to be released in North America. The game tells the story of a woman who is slowly transforming into a hideous beast, the only way the man who loves her can save her is by defeating monsters and feeding her their flesh.

Definitely will get it now.

I'll bite when it's $20.

I haven't put as much time as I would have liked in to the game. I'm four bosses in and I got the game the week it came out. The automated camera chooses some really crappy angles at times.

paleselanJune 25, 2013

I just picked up The Last Story for $30 as well.

This late in the game It would have been nice if XSeed had made this game available on the eShop. There is a game ending bug near the end of the game and I hear that XSeed refuses to fix it due to the low sales of the game and the fact that the Wii is dead.

XSEED can't really fix the glitch because they didn't program the game. As far as I know they've sent data to the dev team(Ganbarion). They're the ones responsible for finding out the cause of the glitch and fixing it. If they don't, then XSEED can't release an update.

XSEED did admit they didn't find the glitch when they were doing QA.

I've only played the game for 30 minutes. I don't think I'll be trying to 100% the game though so even if I do run into the glitch I can at least work around it for the time being.

This can't happen until Nintendo makes some way to have retail Wii games available from the eShop, if ever.

The game is awesome. Glitch fixes in games? I can only think of that happening for Skyward Sword and Metroid Other M. It's very cumbersome to fix them on Wii and I am not going to jump on Xseed for this. It's fairly clear that all Xseed did in this case was a minimum of marketing, possibly the legal / ESRB stuff and whatever their end of distribution is. For the few times the camera picks a bad angle there are dozens of good transitions and angles (even Mario Galaxy sometimes stumped me as to why it didn't allow me to adjust the camera at certain spots). I see this being a huge unsung classic and it easily deserves an 8.5 on the 201x video game scale in my opinion on the basis of atmosphere, scenario and novelty. Xseed doing the $30 bit for this and Last Story earlier is insane. They are the heroes of Wii's third party lineup!

Treat it like any other eShop title.

If I remember this particular glitch well enough, there is an in-game work around that once you perform it once, you never have to again. You just have to use an item to teleport out of the dungeon in question, and from then on you won't run into the bug again.

I'm currently on the 12th/13th dungeon right now, and I gotta say... Pandora's Tower is good. Like, "I want a sequel" good. It strips down the unnecessary padding of most Zelda games, adds some RPG-stat layering and equipment systems, and then gives you thirteen straight shots of dungeon-exploring, puzzle solving goodness.

I had heard it was the weakest of the three Rainfall Games, and I won't deny it- it is, but that doesn't mean that it's a bad game, or even a mediocre game, by any means. It has a unique flair in its visuals, its mechanics, and its individuality that I really wish we could have more of- the world that is created is a fascinating and disturbing one, but also one I would love to return to.

Pick it up if you're interested.

I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel for the 3DS that combines Metroidvania style 2D platforming with the actual Wii game. Think of the recent Castlevania game for the 3DS but much better and in the style of Pandora's Tower. A sequel for the Wii U would be nice as well.

Pandora's Tower doesn't need a sequel. From what I recall of the story, a sequel doesn't even make sense.

WTF does that even mean? Stop talking out of your ass.

XSeed could just put it on the Wii U's eShop the same they would put any other game on there.

No they couldn't. They'd have to reprogram the whole thing. And that's not what Xseed does.

Let's get back to discussing a potential sequel...

FTFY

I bought Pandora's Tower weeks ago to make sure I owned it. It's still shrink wrapped. Nerds...  I want to go back and actually play the Rainfall games, but I'm probably not going to because apparently, I love throwing money away.

KisakiProjectJune 26, 2013

I loved this game.  The dungeons were really cool.  Paid full price.  If you like Zelda its worth getting for $30.  Honestly I'm excited for these guys to do a WiiU game.  The bug sucks though.  I just watched a lets play of the dungeon and used the work around.  Idk..I'm really fond of this game.  The morbid plot, the dungeon design, the boss fights it was really fun.  I can't recommend it enough.

EasyCureJune 26, 2013

Funny, I've had this in my Amazon shopping cart for at least a week at $30 but now that this story is posted, and I'm sure has hit the rest of the internet by now, I've caved and bought it. I would of waited but remembering this is an Op: Rainfall game and seeing how Xenoblade prices skyrocketed, I felt I had no choice but to make the purchase now even if I don't get to this game until.. next year?
