Surprisingly close to its Japanese counterpart.

Feast your eyes on the Western box art for Mario & Luigi: Dream Team.

The West usually gets the short end of the box art stick, just look at Super Mario Bros. 3! Luckily, this time we're getting a nearly identical piece with Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. Lucky us!

Tiny Cartridge noted the only difference between the two covers. "As expected, the Western artwork doesn’t have that weird Japanese trope with the nose bubble, but they replace it with a weird Western one: the use of “zzz” to represent sleeping noises."

Check out the Japanese box for comparison below.

Usually I think the North American boxarts are better actually

I know you just didn't slam the iconic box art for Super Mario Bros. 3, the box art millions of people associate with their most cherished childhood memories...

Gah! NoA removes the water booger from Luigi's face...

TRAVESTY.

I have to admit, the Japan art is pretty cool, but the yellow box is a lot bolder and iconic.

I've always wondered why they do that nose bubble thing.

Older Western Cartoons and animation do a similar thing but its the same bubble coming from the mouth instead of the noise but sometimes the noise.  Its to represent drooling while sleeping.  If sick it will come from the nose.

Slam it? No. I would definitely say that it's not nearly as awesome as the Japanese art. Besides, regardless of which box art you grew up with, it's an amazing game either way.

I don't know why they don't like the nose bubble. Super Mario RPG used it all the time whenever Mario slept. It's another reason for the charm of Super Mario RPG. I loved that as a kid.

I can't help but feel like the box art would be funnier if Mario was facing the bat and prepared to save the day while luigi dreams about himself doing the same thing.

I like everything but the white background, not sure why they stuck with that. The third game has this problem as well. This series is certainly no Final Fantasy, so I don't know why they're taking a cue from some of that series's box art.
