Gotta catch 'em all?

The Pokémon Company has partnered with Nintendo to create the Nintendo 3DS XL Eevee Edition for Japan. To obtain the limited edition console, you must enter a lottery through Japan’s Pokémon Center retail stores.

The special console was created to commemorate the 15 year anniversary of the Pokémon Center in Japan, starting with the first one opening in Tokyo in 1998, and will cost 18,900 yen (roughly $185). The 3DS XL features brown stripes on top with a picture of Eevee underneath.

To enter the lottery, those interested can download an application from the official Japanese Pokémon website and either mail or bring it to the store any time before June 3. Winners will be notified by mail after June 14 and can purchase their Eevee 3DS XL on June 22.

Previously, the Pokémon Center offered a limited edition Pikachu and Charizard 3DS XL in August and December, respectively. The Charizard console was also only available through a lottery.

If this was all brown I'd go for it. Something about the XL colors have just been so off putting. Glad I didn't get the Pikachu one. Yet.

If they were going to do stripes I sort of like a color representing each of the evolutions.

Kinda.......ugly........not going for the striped look.  maybe if they were horizontal it would look better? No that wouldn't work either.

The Charizard 3DS  XL still kicks ass! 8)

My fave is definitely the Charizard one, I love how the top and bottom designs fit together. The whole thing just looked so badass!

I do wish they had referenced the other Eevee evolutions somehow with this one though, isn't that the whole point of Eevee

Since The Pokemon Company is 100% owned by Nintendo, is it accurate to say they are "partnering" with Nintendo? It would be like saying Microsoft is partnering with Skype, or Disney is parterning with Lucasfilm.

Anyways, I don't really like the look of it. It looks like ugly 1980s wallpaper.

Pokemon Company is split 3 ways between Nintendo, Creatures (a Nintendo subsidiary) and GameFreak (an independent company), so depending on the split it could be a partnership.

(It's also why there are Pokemon apps on iOS and such)

Either way, Pokemon Company can't do anything without Nintendo's approval since they own 66% of the company officially and effectively control all of it since GameFreak has not made a game for non-Nintendo systems since 1996.

doesn't Nintendo have a stake in gamefreak as well

Owning a company doesn't mean dictating their day to day operations.

It can if you want it to, but it doesn't necessarily.

The best you can do is put your management in place of theirs, but it's not practical for every action by a company to run through those extra layers of approval for everything they do.
