Wii U Virtual Console Lineup Releasing Tomorrow, Not Full Service

The system update is coming this week along with Virtual Console, but who knows when.

Nintendo of America will reveal the full launch Wii U Virtual Console lineup tomorrow, according to a Facebook post. This is likely what the tease two days ago meant, instead of signifying the launch of the service.

According to Nintendo Force Contributor Emily Rogers on Twitter, the system update and Virtual Console launch will not be happening tomorrow, despite teases and rumors pointing towards a launch for the update or Virtual Console by tomorrow. While rumors of gifting and cross-buying Virtual Console games are running rampant, we still have no official confirmation of that, either.

As of now, we know that Ice Climber (NES) and Super Mario World (SNES) are launch games. It's also logical that the previous 30 cent games, which include Balloon Fight (NES), F-Zero (SNES), and Punch-Out!! (NES), will be a part of the selection as well. Kirby's Adventure (NES) is available for 30 cents on the eShop currently.

Where exactly are these images coming from? The source link up top leads to a dead facebook link and the Nintendo Facebook page has none of the images.

insano, why are you censoring me? I was stating stuff about her that SHE admitted to.

I will re-post some of the stuff from my post, but not the stuff that insano doesn't want posted (I don't know why, maybe because it makes it look bad to post her rumor). Iwata said it would come the day after the system update, he is more reliable than a random blogger whose history of rumors is spotty at best in terms of accuracy.

But regardless, the Virtual Console doesn't seem to be launching tomorrow, meaning that the update is, at the earliest, hitting tomorrow.

-_-

Fine.

Nintendo has been known to often just do VC stuff without warning, I fully expect it to launch tomorrow just like Iwata said last week.

Either the first message or this second message (or possibly both) was very poorly communicated. I still would not be shocked if the VC launched tomorrow. This is a mess, in several different respects, and really only time will tell what will happen.

Iwata never said it was launching on tuesday though...... : |

I'm referring to the image posted on Nintendo's Facebook page yesterday, a screenshot of Ice Climber with the message "2 Days." It was incredibly stupid of them to put out that vague of an image when they really should have known people would take it to mean the launch of the service and not merely the announcement of the lineup.

Iwata said it was launching the day after the firmware update. If if doesn't launch tomorrow despite Iwata saying it would, what could have happened since last weeks Nintendo Direct?

FjurbanskiApril 22, 2013

But the update hasn't happened yet. Unless I missed it? I checked my wii u and had no notifications of the update, and not a single site has mentioned that it was live.

The eshop had some maintenance, but we never got the update. Unless it comes in the next 2 hours.

We should just all play Kirby until the update goes live...

Nintendo's communication on an online service was incredibly poorly planned and misleading? SURELY you jest!  :P:

If it's true that the Virtual Console's only launching with Ice Climbers and Super Mario World (along with perhaps the previous $.30 games), that's a pretty good indication to me just how little Nintendo actually cares about the service.  It's also a good indicator that Nintendo's going to trickle out the releases just as slowly (if not more so) than ever.  I don't know why Nintendo makes the process of selling me things I want to buy so needlessly difficult and elaborate.

LudicrousDa3veApril 23, 2013

I'm willing to bet that they intended for it to go live, but shit went wrong. Disappointed, but c'est la vie.
