Get ready to collect even more plastic toys.

Skylanders Giants was announced for Wii U by Activision at the recent Nintendo Direct in New York City, having already been confirmed for Wii and 3DS.

This follow-up to last year's Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure introduces dozens of brand new figurines to serve as playable characters, several of which being part of the new Giant class of Skylander. Details on the Wii U version are scarce, so it is currently unknown whether it will make use of the near-field communication technology in the Wii U GamePad or if it will use a Portal of Power peripheral like the other versions of the game.

Skylanders Giants is expected to arrive on the Wii U within the launch window.

Did anyone else notice that the Activision guy stated that Skylanders is their number 1 money making series?

They've been saying that for quite a long time now, the first game made them tons of money (largely thanks to sell the toys).

In there stockholder briefing Skylanders made them a lot of money even if they didn't sell a single toy.  Its a very successful line for them now.

Though I will still be getting giants for the PS3 because everyone use to those controls and October.
