The Game Critics Awards announced their Best of E3 2002 winners today, and Doom III for PC took most of the top awards, including Best of Show. Nintendo's Legend of Zelda for GameCube was voted runner-up for Best of Show and took the prize for Best Console Game, though oddly, it didn't get first or second place for Best Action/Adventure Game.

Sega has announced that Sonic Team will reveal the next game in their famous Sonic the Hedgehog series next month.

Next month, on July 13th and 14th, the World Hobby Fair will be taking place in Japan. It is at this event that Sega has said Sonic Team will be unveiling the next Sonic the Hedgehog game. At this time it is currently unknown which platform(s) this new Sonic game will be available on. Super Monkey Ball 2 will also be playable at the show and there will also be a rare Chao download for showgoers.

This bizarre amalgamation of classic pinball gameplay with Sega's House of the Dead zombie-shooting games is now the newest GBA title to be released in America under the Sega/THQ co-publishing agreement. Developed by WOW Entertainment, Pinball of the Dead is a full-fledged pinball simulator with multiple boards, plenty of zombies to shoot down with your silver ball, and even bosses.

According to a response on the IGN Boards (Insider membership required), Denis has mentioned that the 15 blocks of memory required to save in Eternal Darkness now gives you SIX save game slots, not four.

Travellers Tales will develop a multiplatform console game based on the upcoming Pixar movie.

Pixar, creators of Toy Story and A Bug's Life, have a new movie coming in summer 2003. THQ and developer Travellers Tales (which also created games based on the previously released Pixar films) are working on a multiplatform next-gen console title to coincide with that release.

Yet another small developer is bought out, this time by Electronic Arts.

According to GameSpot, Electronic Arts is acquiring Black Box Games. Black Box is currently developing Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 for EA, which is scheduled to hit GameCube as well as PS2 and Xbox. They also developed NHL Hitz 2002 for Midway and collaborated with Visual Concepts for Sega Soccer Slam.

I just got back from EB with my two WaveBirds. So does the WaveBird receiver get in the way of the drive door? The world wants to know....

The WaveBird receiver does NOT interfere with the Q's drive bay. If you have a Q, the WaveBirds fit just like they would with a regular GameCube, except the receiver juts out a little bit more due to the contoured design of the wireless receiver's backside.
The WaveBird works just fine with the Q. Thank you Nintendo!

The Game Boy Advance was first released in North America on June 11, 2001. Since then it has sold over 6 million units in that territory, which NOA notes is equal to the population of Washington state, where their headquarters are located. Neat.
To commemorate the GBA's first birthday, Nintendo is releasing a limited edition Platinum-colored version.
