Katsuya Eguchi confirms that the series is headed for Nintendo's new console.
In a presentation at the 2006 Game Developers Conference, Katsuya Eguchi, the producer of Animal Crossing and the DS sequel, Wild World, mentioned plans for the future of the series:
"Our next challenge is to think of how to bring Animal Crossing to the Revolution."
Although it sounds like the game is still in the conceptual phase, this should be welcome news for fans of the popular "communication game".

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is the name of the first Zelda title for Nintendo DS, which features cel-shaded graphics like those in Wind Waker. Finally, 100% official confirmation that Twilight Princess will have special control features when played on Revolution. The creator of Mario also discusses New Super Mario Bros. for DS.
In an interview with Nintendo's European branch, Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed a feature often mentioned and sometimes disavowed by Nintendo execs: that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will be playable with the Revolution's motion-sensing controller.

Long lines, quick sellouts and a Nintendo apology.
Nintendo launched the DS Lite revision of the Nintendo DS hardware in Japan yesterday, and it should come as no surprise that just about every unit in the country was sold out in minutes.
Despite only one of the three Lite colors launching, the white DS, people still queued up in lines that were hundreds strong. Some even stayed in line when they knew that there was a good chance they wouldn't get one.
