The magical girl franchise returns to the video game world.

Namco Bandai Games Europe has announced that they will be working on a brand new game based on Sailor Moon, the magical girl series that began its life in Japan in 1992. The game will be for the Nintendo DS and has only been announced for Italy so far.

The game takes the five Sailor Scouts through a magical adventure in a world of dreams. Each Sailor has different actions. There are three dream worlds, "The Mystery Castle", "The Jewel Palace", and the "Flower Garden", each one consisting of 20 to 30 levels of puzzles, obstacles, and riddles. Each Sailor's power will be required to get through the areas. Sailor Moon has the ability to pass through small spaces, Sailor Mercury can create a protective bubble barrier, Sailor Mars can break through flames, Sailor Jupiter can break through resistance barriers, and Sailor Venus can collect items with a chain.

The title is expected to be released in spring 2011.

Why dream worlds, didn't the series have enough regular worlds?

At face value it sounds a bit Lost Vikings-like but that's only if they have the characters exist simultaneously instead of having one at a time with exchanges at the press of a button.
